ZVG question...

I just need an example of the existing graphics (text file or c source). I'd be happy to generate new ones in that format.

The logos are held as pairs of co-ordinates. Each vector has a start and end point and these are all listed in turn. Often the start point of the next vector is the same as the end point of the previous vector, but it makes it easier to always expect 2 sets of points and plot a vector rather than worrying about whether the next vector is relative to the last one or needs to start a new position.

The origin (0, 0) is down in the bottom left corner, and points are relative to there. I actually store them as "vector objects" which also holds other info including colour, brightness, and a centre point which can be used as the point of rotation (as in the spinning mame logo intro).

To give you an idea of scale, the 3 logos included are drawn at scale factor 1 and have the following max values:

Sega: x = 0 - 297, y = 0 - 74. This one is actually drawn at 90 degrees on screen.
Atari: x = 0 - 114, y= 0 - 89
Cinematronics: x = 0 - 185, y= 0 - 93

so if we were to define a logo which is simply a box the same size as the Cinematronics logo, the data would be:

0,0,0,93, 0,93,185,93, 185,93,185,0, 185,0,0,0

Hope this helps, PM me if you need any more info.

Just tested the nearly complete v1.2 of the menu. Pure awesomeness (and I'm not just saying that because my name is in the credits! :) )

Mouse, spinner, trackball control. :)

Oh, and when in the game menu, the numlock light will flash. Mine will be hooked up to the light up Atari cone lights, so the start button will flash when in that menu. :001_sdrool:

See if I have it:

Thanks - I'll add Vectorbeam in later.

v1.2 was put on the Zektor website a couple of days ago. I'll link to an interim release with the new logos when I've added them in.

Where did you make those connections?

Mine's in an Asteroids Deluxe cab - I wired a cable with a 3.5mm jack on the end to the edge connector pins E and 5 of a fingerboard (marked as Audio 1 and Audio 2 on the asteroids pinout). These take the sound signal to the AR board where it's amplified and routed to the cab speaker via the cab volume control.

As Dan said, it works really well.

I've got my ZVG etc all mounted on a board now if you still want a pic. It slides in the cab into the same place the PCB goes. There's not much to see but it may give you some ideas.

Cheers,

Chad

So Audio GND to ground, Audio 1 and Audio 2 to L and R respectively?

Cool, I'd like to see it. My boards are on a shelf just under the monitor supports. I'll see if I can get in a project night this weekend to hook up the sound and take a pic of the cabinet insides.

What cab are you using? Asteroids only has 1 speaker, and audio 1 and audio 2 are connected to either side of the cab speaker (via the amp, volume control)

Of the 3 wires from the stereo jack from the soundcard, I wired:
audio gnd to "Audio 1" on the edge connector
audio L and audio R both to "Audio 2" on the edge connector.
