Has anyone had an issue with games playing too fast? I start games with:

dvmame %1 -r 640x480 -zvg 2 -nostretch -soundcard 1

In mame.cfg I have:

frameskip = no
throttle = yes
vsync = no
waitvsync = no

All the games play too fast. Asteroids, for example, ends with an average FPS > 130.

Any ideas?

Either or both vsync options slow the rate to 60 FPS which is still too fast (also, the vectors flicker and the sound is bad).

Removing throttle speeds simple games up to 170 FPS and higher. Also, without throttle, game speed varies with the amount of vectors that need to be drawn. That's telling me that throttle is working, the timing is just off.

I'm stumped.

Now you are discovering some of the issues with running the ZVG. There is no "recent" gui version of mame that will support zvg and I would be very surprised to see any rewrite of mame with the zvg code. The Windows Beta is command line and you have two video options: throttle and frameskip, that's it. I had issues getting many vector games to run at the proper speed, some games like MH will probably never run properly due to multiple different emulation issues that I have gone at length to discuss months ago.
Good luck!

That MH video is very nice! Looks about as good as my macmame "vectormame"....No big deal if you can live with dos, I couldn't... And I have multiple versions of Tempest with level hacks that play perfectly on a horizontal monitor.Good luck!
