This really sucks! I finally built my new Zookeeper cabinet and go to put the artwork on and the front kickplate decal to find there's a 1/4 inch gap around the whole thing. I must have the old version.

1-did you cut it too small?
2-original ZK cab?

edit looks like from the post its a repro cab was an orginal ZK used to compare measurements?

the reasons I ask is the last batch of kicks I sent to Brian were oversized and had to be cut down almost an 1" IIRC.
now the first batch of decals were cut to size and the problem there was the vinyl shrank about 1/8" on all sides
so when I sent that 2nd batch they went all uncut.

shouldnt this be in the WTB section? :D

Hi Rich.

1. The decals have not been cut, just measured.
2. The cabinet was cut with a CNC machine using the exact measurements of all my Taito cabinets.

Oversized would be much better. I must have got a decal from the first batch that was too small.

Here's what the 2 versions look like, mine's on the left:

The one you have is the first batch, I have one of each and the 1st one I have is to small (just like your pic), the second one is larger and uncut and would fit ( your picture to the right). Ive lined the small one up with my dedicated and its off so your cab is correctly cut and its the decal.

yeah you can see the white on the pic on the left thats from the shrinkage
looks like about abn 1/8" on each side which is why your coming up 1/4" short.

to be clear when I said 1st and 2nd batch these were all screened at the same time.
like 3 or 4 years ago
dont recall counts but the order for game stencils was filled cut and shipped.
premasking those intially wouldve kept them from shrinking :(

I had some left around 10 IIRC and sent those to Prok about a year ago uncut.

oh they will ;)

I'm gonna do a scratch build soon I hope.

Anyone have an opinion on whether MDF or particle board would be more "correct" for a repro cabinet? I'm leaning towards MDF, and yeah I'm aware of the drawbacks of the material and that it'd be heavy as hell, but the fuzzy/swollen/damaged ones I've seen seem more like MDF than pb.

thx.......

If you had shrinkage problems with your kickplate when rich gets the next run of these done I will replace them. I don't have a timeline. Just send me an email and i'll make a list when the time comes. I do appreciate those that had the issue and chose not to sling mud at me over it, it's a lot of work to make these reproductions and sometimes things happen you don't expect to. I'll make it right.

Thanks Brian, I apologize for calling you out on these, just very frustrated.
I edited my original post and I'll keep my gripes to email. You do offer a great service to the hobby so I don't want to disrupt what you are doing any further.

I'm not slinging mud, just stating facts. You KNOWINGLY sold me bad decals. And I don't need a lecture on how difficult this stuff is to make, I reproduce artwork too.

Make it right? Like the bad Taito stencils you sold me?

looked like prok was trying to offer a solution

I also purchased the kick plate art a while back, like 2 years ago maybe? I ended up not going with adhesive artwork and sold it to someone else.. Who sent me a nasty email that it didn't fit, I refunded the dude and let him keep it as he already had it on his game.. Totally forgot about it till now..

Bummer as I wish I'd known it was a bit to small.

Mine was also a little small (and also almost 2 years ago), but I had already color matched the art and put a base coat of that paint down. When I applied the art I noticed the gap, but with the cabinet color matched it's very hard to see.
Even with that minor problem, I'd still consider myself 100% satisfied with the full art package I got back then. I still think I have the prettiest ZooKeeper in the world! It's a new cab with new art...so, a complete replica of an original and I couldn't be happier.

This is a nasty thread and should be resolved private. In dealing with PROK in the past he has gone far and above on any stencils, or art I have ordered. He even has sent replacement stencils for layers I messed up and provided some very complex stencils which he made upon request for next to nothing. Cut hims some slack and let him right what ever you are not happy with.

Michael

He is one of the good guys, I've just had bad luck I guess. I'll figure something out.
