Did anyone here get the Zookeeper on Ebay today? It went for $700, I put a bid of $650 hoping to get a second one. Finding parts for this game seems impossible. If anyone has a complete one for sale let me know, or working boards.

I thought the asking price ($800) was a fair ask...yes/no ??

So how much WOULD someone sell a working ZK boardset for....out of curiosity ?? ....$300... $350 ....$400....more / less ??

Anyone here snag this?

I must be missing something.
Why is this game so rare?

It's really fun, usually has RAM issues, has cool side art (especially for a Taito), is really fun. I don't know if it's rare, so much that folks just don't want to sell them because they are awesome. I know I wouldn't move mine for a ransom.

Yup, same here. Until the other day I knew of only two in the Pacific Northwest, Dokert's and mine, but a craigslist want ad here showed pics of the poster's home game room and he had a Zoo Keeper. I checked around and other local collectors know of at least two other people in our area who own Zoo Keepers.

So they're out there, not in huge numbers by any means. It's just that people who have them tend not to want to sell them. Mine's in better shape than the one in this eBay listing. I paid $850 for it back in December and another $410 to ship it across the country. Worth every penny.

the game's pretty rare because those who own one have them as "keepers" and don't want to get rid of them, even finding parts for them is more difficult

I will second that on finding parts. I tried to buy this one to have a second Zookeeper purposely to have a back up. I think I paid $970 for mine and would never even think of putting it up for sale. I doubt I would get the $970 back but even if I could make money off it I wouldn't sell it. Truly a great game.

What a coincidence--I was just playing Zoo Keeper. (OK, I play it almost every day so not so much of a coincidence.)

I've got a working Zookeeper (could stand a cap kit) that I wouldn't mind trading. If anyone is interested then let me know and I'll send you a list of what I'm still trying to find.

Pickup only though, or I could meet somewhere along the way if you've got a couple or more of the things I'm looking for.

You may have just been saved by whoever outbid you. Looks like the seller isn't someone you want to buy from anyway.
