I'm working on a restoration of a zookeeper. I have all of the parts, but I'm building the cabinet from scratch using a water-logged taito game as the template. It was originally a 10 Yard Fight, and from what I can tell it was 95% the same as a Qiz, ZK, Elevator Action, etc. There's some small differences with the base, but I've got that figured out. I've got almost all the wood pieces replicated.

The speaker panel I've got now has a single, 5 inch hole dead center in the speaker panel. I'd like my speaker panel to look like an actual ZK, with 2 speakers, and be the right shape. I've got a photo I took from an arcade about an hour away off a Qix. It's got the 3 holes for each grill, but stupidly, I didn't take any other measurements. I should be able to replicated this pretty easily once I know what the dimensions are.

Can anyone tell me how far back the holes are, and the distance between them? And can you check to see that they're about 5" in diameter?

ZK Cabinet

I can measure my stripped QIX cab that I am making a ZK. Can you please tell me where you got side art or stencils? I'm having a hard time finding them!

That'd be awesome.

I haven't found any side art yet. If I don't find anything in the next few weeks, I'll just get the basic Taito side art stencils (like for elevator action), and paint them in the ZK orange and blue. Then, if side art ever becomes available again, I'll make some new side panels.

Quick Vector Mockup of the speaker panel.

I've reconstructed this off of random photos I've found. Do the measurements seem about right?

I built my speaker panel on Saturday. It turned out pretty good, though a clamp came loose at one point, and I have a bit of bondo work to do.

I started with the 10 yard fight speaker panel which just has a 5" circle, cut some pieces of wood to act as the bars and attached them inside the circle with a few screws, and used that as a template. Then I used my router with a template bit and made a nice copy. Since the bit can only do rounded corners (no 90° angles) it worked to my benefit.

The results look good in person, but this photo isn't the best.
