I have an unmodified taito sound board look's like a zoo keeper or qix. I know you can cut traces on a qix board so it will work in a zk, but if it is original how do you know which one it is. Thanks in advance for your help.

All ZK sound boards are modded qix boards.

Mine has a jumper from TP5 & U17 to U23. Other than that I think the two boards are identical. I will have to look at each of them to compare.

That's what i'm seeing but didn't know if there were any unhacked version's out there. I have one untouched. I guess i will see if it works then convert it.

I have been buying up a lot of Qix boards lately for the purpose of having back up Zookeeper boards/parts. Its funny, if you buy Qix boards you pay under $100, Zookeeper boards seem to be sky high, if you can find them.

I don't buy zk boards for that reason.

By chance do you know where the High Score Save Kit gets installed on the main board? I bought a kit but it did not come with directions. Even a picture would help.

I don't buy zk boards for that reason. I get the qix boards and when im ready burn all the roms and sell complete working sets for zk. after i have my back ups.

I have not done one yet,but have this saved.
So I bought the Taito High Score Kit from QuarterArcade. I installed it incorrectly the first time out, so let me offer the following advice to neophytes like myself: the kit has a wire that needs to be soldered to +5 on a nearby chip (like U83). (Oh, and the kit completely sits in U86 and sits in 4 pins of U85.) You start counting pins at the upper left, go straight down, go across, and then go up. So pin 20 (the pin you solder the wire to) is at the "upper right" location of the U83, if you are looking at the board with the battery towards the bottom. Probably goes without saying to more experienced techs, but having this info out on the net can't hurt.
