not a restore.

i was fortunate to pickup a scarred-but-solid-survivor Zoo Keeper cabinet + control panel + glass bezel in mid-2021. it was missing a lot of stuff, and the hunt began for original Taito parts.

lots of chasing individual bits, but piece-by-piece it all came together from many helpful KLOVers. every effort was made to keep it all original where possible inside and out. even the Willis overlay is "original" 😀 with the wristwear to prove it

but practical considerations had to be acknowledged where appropriate, and i figured it'd never live again without some choice items from some of KLOV's faves

Great job bringing it back to life. Love this game!

I dig the Willis CPO even though it looks completely out of place with the rest of the art. I wonder why they didn't try and match the cabinet colors more. Such a sharp contrast from the rest of the cabinet art.

i had similar thoughts as i was putting this one together, and a couple original Taito overlay CPs came up for sale that caught my eye. however ...

but the more i looked at the original overlay thinking about the Willis as well, the only significant color differences visually (to my eyes) are the (on the original Taito overlay) wide black border around the perimeter, and darkening-orange near the bottom (that ties it to the orange cab).

Willis could have used more orange bricks near the bottom of their CPO image to better match it to the cabinet, and their choice of blue on the sides (and splashes of color overall) ties it more strongly to the bezel art above it than the orange cab below. i tried to source some matching light orange buttons for P1 and P2, but they're still too dark to effectively match the orange on the kickplate
