i have repaired and upgraded boards by mrbill08 and quarterarcade. this boardset should work....i have a upgraded switching power supply and i stilll can get it to boot correctly. to me this only leaves the wiring as a possibility. if i leave the game overnight, then turn it on in the morning i will get the memory failure screen. i open the door and pull the interlock and nothing. just the screen in the attached pic...for the rest of the day i get this picture also..

Need a bit more info man..

1. What's the code on the CPU pcb? As in how many LEDs are on?
2. Does it go into test mode?
3. Have the ribbon cables been replaced?
4. Has the battery mod been installed? Is it working?
5. Have you swapped in other pcbs?
5. What voltages are you getting from the switcher?

Does it boot correctly at all? Can you start a game?

1. What's the code on the CPU pcb? As in how many LEDs are on? no lights are on
2. Does it go into test mode? i can get the video test mode by holding the button
3. Have the ribbon cables been replaced? 3 small cables are new, long is orig...quarterarcade tested with these cables.
4. Has the battery mod been installed? Is it working? battery mod is in and working
5. Have you swapped in other pcbs? have not, this boardset is working according to QA
5. What voltages are you getting from the switcher? all the correct voltages +5,-5, +12

Does it boot correctly at all? Can you start a game? doesnt boot, can't start a game. boots to the screen of the attached pic in first thread

Ok, that helps.

Each time you cycle the power you don't get any lights on the CPU pcb? That's odd.

Usually when you get the memory failure message and follow the directions to open the coin door, something happens.. Another odd one.

Once in test mode it goes through the vid part (lots of thin color bars) but doesn't go into the next screen for switches?

Double check the red test switch and make sure it isn't stuck, I've had many that were and couldn't tell by touch. Actually used a meter.

Go through all your connectors on harness and look for pins that are stuck up, or bent.

May be a long shot, but I had trouble with my coin processor board doing weird stuff some of it similar to the screen you show. I had the coin processor bypass rom burned and that got it running. Is yours still in it?

2 other problems I had that may or may not help.

I installed a cordless phone battery that worked fine for sometime, then one day I turned it on to memory failure. The battery still had voltage, but the jumper next to the battery had corrosion. Cleaned it and it hasn't done it since.

On my Qix I had I had voltage at all the connectors, but then tested at a chip and found I was missing 12 volts and it wouldn't boot. Turns out the pin in the connector wasn't making contact. Fixed that and it booted right up.

Hope you find the problem. - Barry

Good tip on the coin pcb.. I forget that not everyone has burned the patch and tossed the problematic pcb.

coin processor has been removed. i will try a bunch of these tips tonight. i am thinking one of the pins isn't making good contact, since i have a switcher installed and verified working boards it only leaves the wiring/connectors.

thanks

both you got it.....it was a pin not making good contact on the small video rom expansion board....put in a new .156 pin and she booted right up...looks like i'll need 50 more pins to do the rest of the harness

Kickass!

About time something I said helped fix a zookeeper.. Seeing as I have one full boardset and a CPU pcb sitting here that I'm trying to fix for some klov guys.. All this while my ZK just lost sound :(
