Hey guys,

The guy down the street from me is selling me his Zoo Keeper PCB.

So, I need to find a good Taito donor cabinet to create me a Zoo Keeper.

Are there any Taito titles that used similar wiring? Or something I should be looking for to make my job easier?

Thanks guys

save yourself the trouble an get a jrok board and jamma harness. ZK is one of the very few games its not worth using the original PCB/wiring IMO (especially if building one from scratch).

Similar wiring - Qix, Space Dungeon

Jungle King/Hunt, Elevator Action, Alpine Ski, etc same style cabinet

If converting, you'll need the horizontal monitor plastic bezel and instruction area lamp harness.

, I have never had a problem with mine and is all original hardware in a qix cab. Do the research and learn how to work on it and it does well.. :)

I would agree with this. Guy pulled the ZK for a reason. Going jrok will save you lots of headaches.

I would think you might find some cheap donor cabs. taito cabs generally suck. People who do custom taito cabs(notice I did not say restoration), probably would buy a real wood one. So put the word out and you might find one.

That's harsh Bill! Love me some Taito cabs.

I like taito games, but their cabs are horrible. the only cabs made worse are gottlieb. I think if you look at them long enough you can see them expand/get acne. I have most of the parts to build a qix and zookeeper, but I don't think I ever will.

there is hope, Atari scott is C&C cabs out of real wood. Not sure what he sells them for, but its worth it.

Noooooo. They're not Midway cabinets. They're supposed to be MDF, and it's easier to paint a slick finish on that. I do agree they tend not to age well, but in a HUO environment, MDF is fine.

+1…. ZK is the best when you have it with original working hardware. Mine is running OG as well. :)

true, but when you move them to cax, it seems like they get a little worse every year. I don't think you will ever see my personal qbert, reactor, or mad planets at cax. Hell, I don't even like taking my star castle and solar quest. Jonathan talked me into taking my crazy climber this year, I don't think I will be taking next year unless its in a generic jamma cab. Real wood cabs are the only way to go. That and duramold!
