Is Zoo Keeper supposed to be a 4-way or an 8-way title? I know it is listed as 4-way, but I have played it with both stick types and there seems to be no downside to the 8-way stick and transitioning corners seems to be easier with the 8-way than the 4-way.

And according to page 27 of the manual it is indeed an 8-way game.

I have played this on both mame and the phoenix multi board...I have had issues using my 8 way where its gotten stuck or not moved when I have tried to change direction..not sure which emulation board I had the issue....I personally would use a 4 way joystick....I don't think there is any diagonal movement in the game is there??

Just tried it both ways with my jrok board, this game is definitely 8-way. With a 4-way stick it is easy to "miss" the corner and just stand there not moving, never happens with an 8-way.

Interesting. My dedicated panel has a 4 way installed and it was never converted. It's the proper short skinny shaft Wico.

I was just telling gackattack the other day that I think 8 way is better.

BITD we all wished for 3-ways.
Damn, how times have changed. :)

Good to know, when I get around to building my new ZK, that I'll put an 8way Wico on the CP. Good info. Thanks.

8-way works much better on my JROK than a 4-way joystick. I also tested 8-way micro switch vs. 8-way Leaf, and the 8-way Leaf works best.
