Possibly the strangest problem I've ever encountered. I picked up a dedicated Sega/Sammy Zombie Raid cabinet. It originally had a WGK71XX monitor which someone had raided the chassis off of. No problem, I got a few other monitors on my shelf. The first one I drop in is actually one of my frankenstein specials, a Samsung TV tube and a modified Wei-Ya 825HR. Fire it up and the pic on the screen looks to be having a vertical hold problem, but I *know* this monitor is solid. High voltage pitch sounds a tad high. So I swap the pcb for a Konami Lethal Enforcers which shows up fine, no problems. Tested the power supply, good power, disconnected the solenoid driver for the guns, removed a chassis ground to common ground jumper on the PS also- no fix. What is going on??

So then, I put the Zombie Raid into my dedicated Lethal Enforcers cab which also has a WGK71XX on it with original chassis, works fine, pic looks great, no problems. Easy, I will just swap the WG monitor from the Lethal Enforcers into the Zombie Raid cab. Did that, put Zombie Raid pcb in, fire it up- SAME PROBLEM! Sooo weird...

Lets make this more weird- I not only have one copy of Zombie Raid, I have 3 pcbs to play with. All 3 do the same thing. I then went around trying it on various games, several WG monitors, no issue, another Wei-Ya, no problem, then finally another Wei-Ya 825HR which had the problem again in another cab. So like 2 of some 6 or 7 monitors I try it on had this issue, one of which only developed it when being put into the ZR cab. I'm sure if i pulled that monitor out it would work again in the Lethal Enforcers. I really wanna say this is related to the ZR cab, but what could it be?

So this is sorta a "gotcha" problem, i've never seen anything like it in my entire collecting experience. I'm hoping someone has this game and has seen this problem before.

EDIT - Could this be some sorta strange sync problem for this game only? The only thing not moving from the Lethal Enforcers to ZR was the monitor signal connector. I noticed it had a jumper between monitor sync and ground... hrmmm

Wanted to update this for any future Zombie Raid owners who run into this issue-

I did a test today where I put another cab side by side, ran the video signal wires to the monitor in the zombie raid and powered the PCB from it as well, so the Zombie Raid cab only powered the monitor. Monitor in the ZR comes up fine, game looks great. So I've narrowed this down to something on the JAMMA harness on the Zombie Raid, which is totally weird being that its a DEDICATED Zombie Raid cab, it should be right from the factory! I'll post my final result when I find a fix.

Problem fixed.

Chalk all this trouble up to a junky power supply. I was using a "Mean Well" unit. I'm sure it "meant well" =P but it didn't get the job done. Seems to run any other game I put on it, but the voltage, even when cranked up to the max is only putting out +4.7-+4.8. Apparently Zombie Raid likes that nice perfect +5.0 to operate.

Solution: Switched to a Happ Power Pro unit from another game.
