I snagged a zvg and I'm ready to tackle a multivector project.
While I'm waiting for a Space Duel or Gravitar to drop from the sky, I am thinking of putting the zvg in an old Asteroids Deluxe. Here's my thinking/rationalization:

-I have a Tempest so no need to emulate that.
-The zvg can flip x/y, so it should work with the AD mirror.
-The Cinematronics games are BW and will look ok.
-Star Wars/ESB aren't worth emulating without a yoke.
-That leaves the Sega and the remaining Atari color games that will only be BW. (biggest minus to me)

If a color monitor shows up, I can install that. My only hesitation is that I've put a ton of work into this Asteroids Deluxe bringing it back to life.

Has anyone else done this? Any suggestions?

IIRC there is some difference in the cable they sell for Asteroids (maybe because of the flipped monitor in AD, I dunno) - so you'll want to check that beforehand. If I'm right, then maybe its something as simple as making your own cable?

Personally, I did not like the way AD played in Vmame32. Not all versions of AD will work in that version of mame. I had issues with the explosion sounds in particular. AD is just one of those games that cannot be emulated perfectly, no matter what you do and I have tried many, many times. Even macmame .056 fails here...
