ZEKTOR is selling the last run of Zektor Vector Generators (ZVG)

Soundblaster CT4810 here, old style one with the red/green/black jacks rather than the newer blue/pink/green or whatever the standard is now.

I've found that soundblaster sometimes changed chipsets without changing the model no so be careful of that.

The CT4810 is also available with an onboard amp and jumpers to enable amplified output which can be handy. If you trawl Ebay for a few and look at the pictures you should be able to spot the differences easily enough between those with the amp section populated and those with it unpopulated.

WOW

I am happy to hear that, I just bought this one :)

Same number you quoted Chad, so I guess this is what people should look for

Well I got my sound blaster live value (CT4830) today in the mail..
installed the drivers and the card. I have reviewed the config 8 ways
to sunday and still nothing. The dam thing wont work. Everytime I start
dvmame and choose sound blaster sound it crashes just like the sbpci 128 card I had before.

I tried running dvmame with logging and that didnt show crap.. Sigh.

Anyone have any suggestions?

I got the drivers for the sblive card from.

Here is the relavent parts of my config.

Card says it is running on IRQ 11 port CCE0 when the sbinit driver is
loaded.

Any ideas?

Does Zektor offer any kind of technical help? I sure hope mine don't give me such trouble when it comes time. That would really suck!

Zektor customer support is little to no help, most of the time they dont respond and when they do its "i have to ask zonn will get back to you" and then never a follow up.

My problem that took a month to figure out on my own and was a DMA issue. I couldnt get any menus to run for longer than 2 seconds, but games would run fine

ended up disabling DMA (D3,0) and that enabled me to use the front ends

so on the bright side i have been able to get Chad Gray's VMMenu to load and run games, now just looking for an audio card that will work

Having run the ZVG on a few different computers with different specs, I do notice a substantial difference in game frame rates with better graphics cards. My graphics card is not really anything special, I wonder if vmame32 was running to a really juiced up graphics card, it would smooth out framerates? Anyone running a really nice graphics card or is everyone trying to make this work with older graphics?

Hi Mike,

I think I got mine from Lewis D'Aubin's ZVG archive which is posted here:
http://www.consortiumofgenius.com/arcade/vectormame.zip

Failing that I'll dig out the setting from my own machine and post them somewhere, but I won't be able to do this til early next week.

Chad

Thanks for the help. Unfortunately that didnt have them. Good news is
that the easymame site is back up!

http://easymamecab.mameworld.info/html/snddosdr.htm

Hopefully I'll be able to get something working tonight. Cross your fingers.

I realize I am late to the party but I have a ZVG kit and I am starting on the process of building a multi-vector machine.

Right now, all I have is the kit, the cables for monitor and the control panel for multivector that was recently produced by Takeman.

Is there a listing of parts required for this project? Any helpful websites for putting it togther?

Sorry for my ignorance, I am just starting this and by looking at the postings here I have a lot to figure out!

Thanks.

I'm doing a video series on this. The first part is at:

Al Warner

Watched it last night. Ahhh... emm386, oakcdrom.sys, himem.sys ... what a blast from the past!!

I remember trying to get Doom to run on a 486SX with 4Mb ram. Lots of autoexec and config.sys massaging.

Great video. Please keep going!!!

For those of you who have gotten Vector mame working..

What Brand/Model Computer with what processor and memory?
How about video card?

I'm still not having any luck getting the software running right.
I'm thinking its hardware incompitability issues with dos/VM.
