Hi guys,

I'll be getting a Zeke's Peak fairly soon and want to lay it down on its back and install caster wheels on the bottom. Is it safe to lay these down? I'm assuming yes but don't want to screw up the game by doing something I shouldn't. Do you guys recommend removing the marble first so not to break the glass? Is there anything I should know about either ZP or ICB when receiving it?

Thanks,
Tom

I don't see any problem laying it down. Just make everything inside is mounted. Once you're setup I would recommend cleaning & waxing the playfield like you would a pinball machine. Also replace the ball with a new one. I think it's 5/8. Any pitting or rust will wear down the playfield. Also with a new ball & waxed playfield the game operates much smoother. If there is any surface rust on the vertical guide bars you can wipe them down with scothbrite or chrome polish. Lastly, the plexi over the display gets a lot of wear. You can get a PET screen protector & cut it to size to keep it from getting worse. Just make sure the printing is good & solid. You don't want it pulling the ink off if you ever remove it.

Great tip on the screen protector, I'd also recommend cleaning the guide rods and polishing them with Turtle Wax Chrome Polish.

Then clean the nylon guides that ride on those with a Q-tip and some plastic safe degreaser like Naptha. They should run smoothly while dry, resist the temptation to put grease on those as it will gunk up and eventually ruin smooth precision game play.

I'd also replace the belts unless they are perfect, again towards getting the game working super smooth. I use wiper arm tubing which is thinner than standard windshield washer tubing or vacuum tubing. The wiper arm tubing runs smoother and with less resistance than the thicker stuff.

Just use a small 1" or so piece of small threaded rod to join the ends of the tubing together and position it under the crossbar clamp so it never ends up going around the pulleys (bad). You can cut the head off a small 10-24 screw and use the threaded portion for the joiner.

It's a great game!

..

The Zeke's Peak already has a new ball and brand new bands (not the hoses everyone recommends).

I would recommend waxing and cleaning the playfiel & the rods, so you wont have to screw with it much in the future.

Hey guys, I haven't opened up my ICB yet but if I want to pick some tubing up on the way home today, how much do I need to get?

Well, I'd order both from Riptor (and probably will still get the ball from him) but I'd love to be playing it ASAP rather than waiting for shipping, and since everyone seems to recommend the wiper tubing method, there seems to be no great reason to go the other route.

I'd just order everything from Riptor... You'll have a new ball and your belts by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest!

How do those belts work with the different pulley revisions between machines?

I've had several Ice Cold Beers and one Zeke's Peak and there are two different pulley routes, one involves an extra idler wheel and the belt routes are different lengths.

I've only ever seen the one setup, with no idler pulley. I have the tubing in mine right now and would NOT recommend it. It stretches when you start & stop the bar which causes a little creep. *Real* belts are on my list of things to order this week.

That's a good reason to just get the dang belts. I want this thing to operate "perfectly", not just "really good".

Just to be clear... Riptor's belt item is 2 belts for $10? Marco is like $10 for 1 belt so I just want to make sure I'm not misunderstanding the description. If so, that is a great price I think!

I'm pretty damn sure that you get two!!! I haven't opened the box yet but I'm 99.9% sure that in an e-mail discussion it's a set of pair.

Mine has the 3 pulleys per side, I noticed in the manual that there is only 2, anyone have a bead on that, anyone else have the "idler pulley??
