Zaxxon side art?

I like Zaxxon, but honestly, this is a game a lot of people aren't going to spend a lot of $$ on. If solvent inkjet looked REALLY close, then this may be the way to go, especially if it would be expensive artwork.

Question I have with solvent inkjet though - with something like this with a lot of black, how good can it look? Does the black end up looking deep enough? How badly does it fade?

Solvent inkjet is the kind of stuff they use to make billboards and other outdoor signs. They are made to battle the sun. In the game room out of direct sunlight, you shouldn't experience fading issues. This is not the case with the majority of the inkjet art sellers out there though. There are only a couple of art guys that do the solvent inkjet stuff.

There is another KLOV'r with 2 NOS art pieces, one side only, but they are buried for now.

OTTOgd, are you satisfied with the scan you have to work with?

As for the question: is ink jet good enough, I suppose that depends on if you want your cabinet looking sharp now, or much later if ever.

For my needs, ink-jet looks awesome and the price was very reasonable.
Silkscreen would be great, but I doubt we will ever see enough owners to back ThisOldGame running a set.

Here is my reproduced ink-jet art at California Extreme 2010

Trev was this solvent?
I meant to look at this closer at the show, I know we had discussed me doing this prior to the show, but my scedule was just too tight : (

Also to point out when the art is vectored youll get much better results in blacks and color depths/brightness vs a raster scan.
having the art vectored for inkjet will also give you better and easier control to the best color matches.

Yes, BestofMaine used solvent inks for Star Fire.
The art was not Vectorized.
I was expanding my Photoshop education on the fly for the project.

Prints would cost $32 each
Glossy, diecut, stickyback.

If you wanted to go with them, we would probably want to arrange for others to simply order a set from bestofmaine. After a given amount of time, he could do a bulk printing, maybe a little discount and send them all out to us.

Perhaps on top of that, we could all give you a donation for your hard work, and get a code in return to pass on to the printer for authorization.

Anyone know if this is REALLY going to happen?

I have a Zaxxon mini with nothing but white sides that is begging for some Zaxxon side art to liven it up.

Thx
Tom

I don't know about the mini but I am going to finish converting my scans to vector sometime in the near future.

The 'stars', spaceships and wordmark are done; the base is next. Unfortunately, I currently have a lot of irons in the fire (including a family) so time spent on it is sporadic. But my Zaxxon sideart is embarrassingly scabby.

Optimistically, the art should be ready before summer.

I have a NOS side Zaxxon side art piece i was going to vector, I will donte it to you for this project if you like? PM me your mailing information if your interested and i'll fire it off to you.

Appreciated, but not necessary at this point since the scans are done and I just have to finish redrawing the 'base'. Then I'll get the vector file printed somewhere.

Btw, your basement looks amazing.

I would guess you won't find too much interest. Based on the lack of interest in the cpo's, I would expect even less interest in the side art. Still, it would be nice if it was available for those that needed it, but don't expect a big seller.

Man, I believe that!! Just posted the other day four Zaxxon marquees for sale and did not get the first hit..........

Hello,

I'm also looking for Zaxxon side arts. I had to scan them first, and vector the result... but obviously you already done that fastidious scan job.
If you provide me your 're-assembled full size scan' file (similar to your first attachment but in full size), I'll provide the file to some vector masters on my website (see what they are capable to do right here) and they'll finish the job.
Let's make that Zaxxon side art repro a reality please ;-)

I chipped away at the rest of the 'vectorizing' a week ago but sidetracked by other priorities. I have to get ICB bezel art to Darin @ PhoenixArcade first, among other projects. I'm getting there but I can't say when it will be done. But it will.

If no one else wants to screen it I will. But it wont be until after the New Year. I've got a ton of stuff in the pipeline plus reprints. Whomever is working on the file please email me directly.

Atari fans rejoice, theres so much art that came out in 2011 and more to come.

Someone was slamming me on another forum because I sell the ArcadeSD boards and make cocktail art for multigames. Saying Im killing off dedicated games. So be it. But I gotta tell ya, I make a shitload of costly screen printed art that no one else would touch.

Doesn't sound like they know what they are talking about. Anyone in the know, understands you have been providing quality art for years for dedicated games.

I got a Zaxxon a while back that was converted to a Future Spy. I finally decided to peel back the converted side art to reveal:
