Zaxxon side art?

No offense taken:) I am very new to this.. first time making artwork.

I'm just following rich's advice at this point. I'll look into finding
someone to vectorize it.

Just added Zaxxon to the collection.
Add another to the side art request.

I highly recommend this guy for affordable prints.

I don't know if he can do silkscreen, but diecut stickyback glossy prints look great and he can laminate too.

As for photoshop and stitching, I may be able to garner some help from Mame Artwork.
Let me know if I can be of help.

Zaxxon has always needed repro art...I'd probably be in if it was done right.
Unfortunately, its not as easy as clicking 'Outline Trace' in CorelDraw, 'Live Trace' in Illustrator or 'Trace Bitmap' in Flash (which is surprisingly decent) since they don't always do a good job. I am just about to get into the carrier area after doing the logotype and stars. I've included all the over-registered inks/outlines as well. The angled guides are ready to go (333.2 and 27.6 degrees).

I like to think it will be done right. But wife/kids/paying work slows the process.

That said, I'm still not sure where to have it printed.

See if you can get ThisOldGame to take it on.

Please see previous post
Short term, it's a good solution
Probably cost $60 for 2 prints
Better with bulk order

I would be up for a set and I also have one side of nos that isn't perfect but I would donate it to be scanned and I am sure it would cleanup ok.

We have a giant plotter similar to that at work. I just don't know that it would be 'good enough' for game sideart. One of those pics showing a movie poster being printed wasn't impressive. It's an option, yeah, but I'm curious how much better solvent inkjet would be. You also have to have it done on adhesive backed vinyl.

I'd probably restore a Zaxxon if sideart ever got made right.

I'm a graphic designer by trade, so I could easily get it printed out standard large format paper or banner material for dirt-cheap or free as well but, yes, it would be nice if it was done right.

I'll keep plugging away at it and should be ready in a week or two, and more prepared to weigh the options.

He printed all of my art for Exidy Star Fire
Glossy die cut stickyback
It all came out excellent. We ran 4 additional sets as well
You can see pics at the california extreme web site
Very very reasonable price and quick on shipping.
After reviewing the your work, I'd be happy to do the trial run

Would also be up for scanning that NOS but it sounds like you
Are pretty far along already.

Thanks for plugging away at it.
It's possible TOG or Phoenix will pick it up if we can muster enough interest

I've been wondering if the cab would look better without any wood exposed
On the side. Just scale up the art to fill and cut back.
Or would that be sacrilige?

I know the feeling. I have something I am working on right now that I want to complete but can't get to it because of the reasons you list here.

Either Rich at Thisoldgame.com or Darin at Phoenixarcade.com, but you will likely have to get preorders for at least 25 sets.

I will be in for a set if you do this. Any chance you could fill the area around the cutout with black and stars? The reason I ask is it would be cool to just hang like a poster if the entire piece was filled instead of just the die cut out of the artwork. Might sell a few more that way since people won't have to own the game to display the art.

This would be an expensive screenprint to do
the size, the number of colors, and the films needed to do Both sides
unlike most Atari art you cant just flip the same set of films :(

Someone did approach me a few months back it was posted here on KLOV
not sure if it was OTTOgds post or not if not then theres 2 people working on this art
its posted on the BYOC as well Ill have to go back and refresh my memory.

I recomended doing this as a solvent inkjet/plotter cut as at the time
simply beacause there wasnt enough interest to warrant a screened run.

Most Zaxxons have torn side art, i would think this would be better than nothing and would look fine.

I like Zaxxon, but honestly, this is a game a lot of people aren't going to spend a lot of $$ on. If solvent inkjet looked REALLY close, then this may be the way to go, especially if it would be expensive artwork.

Question I have with solvent inkjet though - with something like this with a lot of black, how good can it look? Does the black end up looking deep enough? How badly does it fade?
