I have several boards that are missing some sounds.

The Zaxxon manual sound troubleshooting flowchart states...

"Verify U23 output that corresponds to missing sound"

My question is... how do I do that?

Ground specific pins on U23 for each sound?

Thanks.

don't know how to troubleshoot that but I do know zaxxons are well know for losing sounds or all sound due to failing caps on the board. I think there are like 15 or 20 caps that affect sound. Replacing these may solve your issue.

d...zaxxons are well know for losing sounds or all sound due to failing caps on the board.

Thanks for jumping in... good advice and I have the caps on order from Bob Roberts. Just wanted to do something, other than sitting on my hands, in the meantime.

Ha.

Late least night I was googling and I found this...

"I did find that shorting out each pin on U23 to ground that carries the sounds I was able to trigger each one. They came through loud and clear."

So I may give that a try.

So does that mean U23 was bad or did you just recap the board? I just lost my explosion sound, as in, when my ship blows up.
