Hey guys... I just picked up a ZAXXON yesterday. I'll do my best to describe whats going on. Its kind of hard to capture in a photo but I think you can see what Im trying to convey. I circled in RED what Im referring to. The game plays fine but the words "TOP" and "1UP" circled in the top left curve upwards and in the bottom left the word "FUEL" swoops downward. Its just on the left side of the screen. Any ideas whats going on and is it just a screen adjustment? Thanks. Mike

That looks like screen curl. It could be an adjustment, but since you just got it, it probably needs a cap kit.

I bought a Zaxxon this fall and dealt with the same issue. Cap kit for sure, and adjusting these is harder than some other models. Good help article from Bob Roberts here:

The bottom line is that you will probably have to live with a non perfect screen in that regard, even after all avenues taken. My scores still curl a little when it is first turned on, but usually get better later. My screen will still not go 100% to the right, but I have it close and the picture is beautiful, so I let it be. The 4600 is not the most user friendly monitor IMO.

mike capping the monitor is a good step but also listing what monitor chassis it is might help because certain monitors have different fixes for that sag on the side.

4600s have that bend on the bottom usually. I've never noticed it on the top too however. I don't recall if there's an adjustment to sort that out. you may need to just cap it. those things are almost 40 years old now.

Thanks for the reply. I appreciate it. I think that is going to be what I end up trying.

when you have it out you will definitely need to reflow the X-Y card at minimum, as well as the connectors for both cards and their headers. I've found it best to reflow, remove the old solder, then apply new solder. alternate by doing odd pins first then evens -- you don't want those to move at all. :)

and spray the pots with deoxit.

i would add some clarification to make sure when you are reflowing all the header pins/cards make sure you have the connectors/cards installed so the pins don't drop right out of the pcb when you heat them up to remove the solder. plus it helps keep all the pins straight and lined up.

BTW: after capping/reflowing (make sure to replace the C621 axial paper cap too which isn't in kits) and you may be able to improve that sag with the Hold pot, but as Mecha said you may have some you have to live with.
