I have a question: I bought an upright Zaxxon sn#211588. I am very sure it is in the original cabinet due to the tags on the outside and inside (and it has the zaxxon joystick), but unlike every cab I've seen that is woodgrain, mine is flat brown. Did sega/gremlin make some that way, or was the woodgrain removed and then the sideart reapplied? I believe it is the original side art.
Thanks!

Someone definitely painted that cab, can see the extra brown paint on the coin mech.

I've seen a couple brown Zaxxon's.....I always assumed factory used Congo Bongo cabinets. Congo Bongo was the same cabinet, but brown. But yeah, I agree with you.....that cabinet's been painted. Look at how they painted "around" the side art!

Oh yeah, Zaxxon had a black joystick.....not green.

Just like the above poster mentioned, Zaxxon did indeed come in both brown and woodgrain.

I belive the "paint" on the coindoors is actually rust. Zaxxon harware seems to get rusty easily - I had that problem on mine when I first got it.

I'm almost 100% sure yours is all-original.
