I have a parts order for Digikey and I wanted to add a Z80A for my Donkey Kong, but when I do search I can't find anything that resembles the actual ICU.

Can anyone suggest a correct part number that I should order?

Thx

I dont usually like linking to my site but digikey is more expensive. Though if you are going to be buying stuff from digikey it is worth it.

yeah, and the 20mhz z80's are out of stock with a 13 week wait:

i stock NOS z80a and z80b if you ever need in the future.

the speed rating.

Z80A is only rated to 4Mhz.
Z80B is rated to 6Mhz

What about just a Z80, as in the links provided? Is that good enough for Donkey Kong or do you need a Z80A. Are they interchangeable?

man, all you vendors fighting over $5 orders... be nice!

$5 for you, $5 plus $40 shipping for me to get to Canada.

they are 100% interchangeable. At least as far as I have noticed. I've been using modern 20mhz Z80s in my repairs and haven't run into issues yet.

If digikey is going to charge you an arm and a leg for shipping try mouser or I can maybe help out. I ship to canada constantly ($15 for up to 2 pounds). Digikey loves to over charge for shipping. (partly why I stopped using them)

Thanks All.

I was joking (kind of) about the shipping costs. They are atrocious when trying to ship out of the states, but in the case of Digikey, they have a Canadian site, so its only $8 shipping within Canada.

The plain Z80 is 2.5mHz clock

You cab run a Z80A in place of a Z80, but not the other way around. That is to say you can replace with a faster one, but not a slower one. ;)

So if the schematics spec a Z80A, and I ordered a 6MHz replacement, I should be okay?
