Youtube channel idea, would like some feedback please!

How about strip-gaming? Lose a man and/or game and you lose a piece of clothes. You could only go so far on youtube, but I think you might have "other" places you could host the "full" versions... I'd watch that.

:D

A middle aged guy sitting on a couch playing video-games with an off-duty porn star........I guess people with watch anything these days.....yeesh....

If it was mostly a European audience I could try that, but I have mostly a USA audience and I need to be *very* careful as people get offended by that stuff pretty easily here. Like even my smoking videos where the girls do nothing but smoke fully clothed, those get complains, are deemed inappropriate, deemed too sexual, etc. So I don't want to go too far, need to keep it all as basic as possible.

Some also think people spending money on 30+ year old arcade machines are fools and they roll their eyes in disbelief. To each their own, but I don't let their thoughts and limitations stop me from doing what's fun to me :)

I'm not faulting you for sitting on a couch playing video-games with a 20-something porn star...that is awesome! Being a fellow middle aged man, I'm impressed and a little jealous of you. :)

I'm confused about the people who would be interested in watching you do it. My 10 year old daughter watches videos of people playing Minecraft, etc. all the time....I don't understand that either.

Finding, buying, fixing and playing a 30 year old game is actually experiencing life. Sitting on your butt and watching a video of someone else experience life playing a game????....I don't get it.

I guess I've got to go outside and yell at the neighbor kids to stop playing my yard....grumble, grumble, grumble.....

A little long but hopefully constructive feedback.

I was watching the game play more than the girl but did catch her reaching for her glass a few times. I fast forwarded through most of it though. Maybe too long or just need some editing showing the frustration, the glee, the surprise moments, etc.

I think the porn reality type shows kind of worked because they showed the normal everyday side and then smacked you on the head periodically with this is what they do for work. This didn't really have any dichotomy; it is implied but comes off as a dad teaching his daughter how to play contra (no insult meant). Maybe an intro that starts with some safe scenes from her movie or her just coming off set. The audience needs to identify or associate her as an adult film star more, i think.

I generally like the idea. Keep working at it. The intriguing part, for me, is seeing people do things they aren't used to or in environments you aren't used/expecting to see them in. I would tune in to see Kim Jong-un play a game of pool or ping pong, or Putin spin a pottery wheel if it was train-wreck. Getting famous people to enjoy their favorite childhood game would be interesting too. Kobi playing dr. mario and wrecking it or something....would be like WTH not expecting him to like that game or be good at it.

My feedback/suggestions are pretty minor.
1) A little more volume on the game. Couldn't really hear it at all.
2) Sound quality is a little strange. Possibly microphones would solve this.
3) Perhaps a few different camera angles.
4) Editing it down to under 5 mins for those of us with ADD and short attention spans.

Keep in mind, this is free advice and your getting exactly what you pay for ;)

Thanks again guys, all feedback is appreciated. I prolly wouldn't put images of her scenes in there, I'm purposely trying to keep the porn angle low key to avoid getting strikes against my videos and channel, or having them categorized as "Adult only" by Youtube. Length does keep coming up, I'll try and make the next video both shorter and show more levels of gameplay although I don't think I can get it down to 5 minutes. For sound I used a shotgun mic, but I'll try a different shotgun next time. I may try a different camera next time as well just to experiment with a different look.

I think I got what I need. Thanks again everyone for the feedback, I'll keep tweaking it!

Best game to watch girls play might be Final Furlong. :)
I don't advise buying one, but it's worth mentioning.
Reason becomes obvious, below:

This is great for those who would rather be in the matrix. There is a large group of people who have checked into the digital gulag. Their bodies have been snatched from life. When they finally decide to participate in polite society, it is in completely inappropriate and anti-social ways. Then when they are admonished by those who live more normally, they retreat back into the comfort of their self-imposed prison cells.

I guess my original post wasn't clear. There would be no nudity at all in this YouTube channel, nothing sexual either. The girls would just be playing the games fully clothed like normal. My bad if that wasn't clear in my original post. There are many such videos on the internet but very few with 80s arcade games or pinball, and even fewer with girls, girls are usually playing new games in videos. Its definitely not for everyone but I actually enjoy watching gaming videos personally, there just seem to be little if any with girls playing old games from before their time, seems like that could bring an interesting angle to it.

Well , its not like we are gonna watch you talk about games and stuff we already know about . Plus help you make that youtube money.
So you minaswell include something special..

I recommend you look up a youtuber named "the digging britt"
She is into metal detectors.. and stuff.

Hey guys I'm reviving my thread. I posted a clip of what I had in mind with arcade machines, video is here:

I recorded a girl playing some arcade machines from way before her time just to see her reactions, I thought it came out good! It's definitely fun to expose them to the origins of video games that's for sure. Check it out and let me know what you think. The video is pretty long because she kept wanting to try more and more of them so I just kept recording. I also have a video of her where we play a console NES game together, that's on my channel as well but I figured most here would be more interested in the arcade machines.

Good try, but let me give you some advice.

First and foremost -- you're a nice guy, but stay out of the video. Nobody is here to watch you talk to the model or participate. Sorry.

Next, set up at least 3 *static* mounted cameras to record:

1. The isolated gameplay.
2. The model's face head-on for reactions (put a green screen or backdrop behind her)
3. An overhead shot to where you can look over the model's shoulder from behind (optional).

Sync these up and you're in business. One game per video and shoot the same game with multiple models so you won't have to reset the camera setups when you change to a different game. Also, invest in directional microphones. Ambient noise is annoying.

You could also easily do this following the Twitch model as that's successful as others have said, but that's been played out.

I think we've seen your model house on one of the forums I was visiting. Nice collection!

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah I realize people don't want to see me that's why I'm only seen for 1.5 minutes in a 52 minute video, so I did stay out of the way 97% of the time :) Part of the reason to include myself even that little though is from experience with my websites. People steal videos all the time and claim them as their own, so I figured inserting myself even if just a little could help deter that a bit because copyright law is unfortunately quite useless at stopping content theft.

The multi camera thing sounds cool and I considered it but I didn't go with it for a few reasons:

1) The games are *really* difficult for the girls so I don't know if I'd get enough footage that way. It would result in maybe 5 minute videos, although maybe that could be enough? Worse case though is if you get a game she just doesn't like then the video is a bust, like if she had just played Crystal Castles and nothing more then I think the video would have been boring personally. With multiple games you can see the lows and highs as she plays them all.

2) You lose the game comparisons if each video is just about one game. With the way I did it she was able to compare all the games because she played them all back to back which I thought was kinda cool.

3) I wanted to try something different compared to what's already been done to death.

I had done a test video of this first with a different girl where we did just play one game and it didn't go well (I didn't post it), I didn't find it very interesting hence why I had tweaked the formula to make it more involved. I do agree that getting a face shot would be cool, maybe I can handhold the filming of talking to her and the screen, and quickly setup a camera each game to just film her face, it's something to consider although tough in my setup because the games are all tightly side by side so not much room to setup a second face cam.

I was using a directional mic, a shotgun mic, you can see it a bit in the reflection of some of the games later in the video. I have a few mics, even the crazy long and uber directional Audio Technica 8015 but none totally cancel ambient audio. You need lav mics for that which just adds to the setup time, etc, and I'm trying to do this without too much downtime.

Anyways just dumping what my thought process was. Ultimately I wanted something organic and raw so there was no prep or setup at all, I just hit record and she played without any cuts or edits which made it more real to me, and at the same time different from the typical gamer videos which kinda all see the same to me now.
