Your (hack hack, cough cough) other "hobby"

Classic cars is my other hobby. Got a 71 Buick GS convertible, sort of take a step back from the games(even though a few come and go) during the summer to have fun with that.

Brian

Have an 86 Grand National, as well as a motorcycle. Used to be into computers as a hobby but its also my career, so I've moved on to the 'cades as its replacement.

If I had the money I would get into Legos.

I used to work with a guy who was into Legos hardcore. You think our hobby is weird, there is an auction site where you can sell individual bricks. Some go for $1.00 apiece and up. The super rare pieces are more valuable if they have only ever been handled with gloves. To outsiders the Lego market is very strange.

I started collecting lunchboxes about ten years ago. They all have their thermoses and look cool on my shelves. I also have about 1100 comic books from the late sixties, seventies and early eighties(mostly dc war titles, batman, conan, luke cage,dd,ff,ghost rider, captain america, avengers. etc..) also large format comics, pocketbooks too. also collect vinatage joker collectibles(anything cool with the seventies style joker similar to my avatar.

Up until last year,I used to collect NHL game pucks, specifically game used and goal scored pucks. All of them were documented by the NHL,so they were all legit.Had a few from the Stanley Cup Finals.Even had a game winner from one SC Final.)

Thats pretty cool.

I have 3 game used pucks from here in Columbus from the Blue Jackets. They are not anything special like game winners or "special games" but to me they are great just because they are game used.

1 from the Canadians game
1 from the Predators game
1 from the Oilers game.

My wifes company has season tickets right behind the players bench and right at the tunnel where the players come out. Well when ever a puck leaves the ice and go's into the bench area, the equipment manager usually gives it to the first kid that he sees. So whenever we get those seats, we always make sure we have our daughter sitting close to the tunnel :).

She also got a players game used stick once. Kris Russel from the Jackets.

Cool man, I actually have a puck from when I was working on the Convocation Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.
We were installing the seats and the home team was practicing, all of the sudden, with my back turned to the ice, a puck slammed into the back of the seat right beside me! Scared the crap out of me, but I grabbed it and stuck it in my tool belt. Ha, it's nothing special, but it nearly tattooed by back side!! ..lol

I also have a pet alligator named Burt..

pretty well just a weird guy..

My previous hobbies included Atari home console equipment. It consumed much of the house. Much of it is gone now.

My next hobby that may interest me is Vintage vacuum cleaners. Just picked up a 1956 Kirby Model 516 at the thrift for 10 bucks. Got it looking good, and have some new parts on the way to make it like new again.

I restore and collect vintage R/C cars and trucks. I also race them at a local track some weekends outside of bashing with friends.I collect Galloob Micro machines vehicles and playsets, and build Model cars.

I started collecting lunchboxes about ten years ago.

I collect lunchboxes but on accident. I still have my very first one (Gobots) but it is pretty beat up. I have 3 others but use them for storage bins... very useful!

Anyways, video games **is** my other hobby. I have a bunch but only 1 peice of an arcade (mechanical) game. It was always something I wanted to go in to but haven't fully switched over yet. My #1 right now is hockey and baseball cards. Before that it was Transformers, of which I still have most of them. I haven't collected Transformers for quite a few years now.

For me, collecting all depends on the people around you. If no one is there to share in the hobby, you will probably fall out and do something else, or maybe you're just one of those crazy people! The internet helps out a lot for me, at least making friends online. That's one reason I fell out of Transformers was I ran out of real friends to enjoy the hobby with, and why I am still collecting cards. Its one thing to know someone, but its another where you help them and they help you.

That's just how I look at it.

Railroad Motorcars!!! & RR history
Snowmobiles and drinking BEER!!!!

SWEEET
I own a Fairmont a-7 I think...Inherited it from my Grandpa
We used to run it here in town
Any chance you have been to any of the S.M.R.S. events?

I collected VHS tape primarily Bruce Campbell VHS tapes...up until about 1998 that is. I had every single one he was in, you'd be amazed at how hard to find some of them were.

I had a number of very very rare tapes but well in came DVD's and that kinda killed that hobby.

Then it was computers for years and years. I still build my own and occasionally for friends, I just recently cleaned out my basement, it ended up being three truck loads of computer crap, not including the 96 boxes I burnt in my fire pit.

Does this happen to others with a computer hobby? Anytime a family member or friend comes across computer crpa they "save" it for you and you end up with complete crap.

Lately the hobby has been my HTPC. I have a 5TB Raid 5 server and that houses DVD Rips. But it is all for my HTPC. I'll toss some pics up when I get home.

Whoa! I ispy a Tamiya Kure Nismo Skyline!!! That was the first kit I built! Sweet 4X4 machine! I actually took it carpet racing but got my butt kicked by the AE RC10TC3s. So I sold the Tamiya and bought me TC3.

Good times that was!

I had a TC3 and nitro version.Times have changed since then. The TC5 is out now and the TC6 releases next year. Tamiya is where my heart really is when it comes to collecting. That Kure nismo was bought new the year it realeased and has never even had electronics put in it.
