Your (hack hack, cough cough) other "hobby"

Lionel trains.. i have closets full. I actually got them out, and started setting up track in the kitchen/dining room. My arm hurt from putting the track together ( not supposed to be using the arm) so i stopped after about 150 sections and just put it up somewhat dejected.

I used to do halloween.. I dont mean hand out candy at the door type.. I mean animatronics, pneumatics, things popping out of the ground, flying over head, scaring the cr@p out of kids and adults. I had a huge yard haunt every year. I got tired of it and sold it all. Now its Arcade games...

Your (hack hack, cough cough) other "hobby"

Lets see here I still collect these even though i have'nt been any 8 plus years.

WWF,WCW,ECW, Wrestling figures. I've got a Huge Collection of Simpsons items.

What is your other hobby if you have one? If you don't what would it be if your house wasn't overrun with arcade games?

I was really into model trains before I started collecting arcade games. As it is now, I don't have room to set up a train set again. I would really liked to someday but who knows when that will be.

fixing everything else basically.. always been into cars and thats also my profssion btw, but i like to fix car stereos, amps, etc ( those skills helped me switch over from that stuff to arcades)

I used to own several snowmobiles and atvs, dirtbikes etc but as ive gotten older my motovation and free time have been limited os much i gave all that fun stuff up.

My Mustang needs a new CD changer, got anything laying around?

I too was into cars once, though I never had a true collectors car. This was the closest I had and I sure do miss this one. I'm hoping to get a 2nd gen. and get back into it someday.

My 1971 Pettibone Speed Swing. Its ex-railroad, they had railwheels on them for driving down the track, attachments included railthreaders, grapplehooks(for loading ties), 9 foot wide track cleaning bucket, 3 and 4 yard snow buckets, magnet, brush cutter, tote hook, 20 foot boom extension, clamshell, and many others.

Mine was sold to me with the 1 and a half yard dirt bucket on it, which is fine. I've used it to haul rock, dirt, logs, scrap. I will use it this winter to clear snow. I pulled a 10,000 lb dumptruck out of my back yard with it; lifted the front up like it was a piece of candy.

Its 2 or 4 wheel drive, 3 speed powershift(Allison tranny), front, crab, or 4 wheel steer, has a 4-53 Detroit(2cycle) 112HP diesel, boom raises high enough to load a full size dumptruck, and swings 90 degrees to either side. Power steering too.

I like to work on it. I've changed all the fluids, put muffler brackets on, fabricated my own mirror, rewired almost everything, put a heater in it, one new tire, etc.

The turntable mechanism has the biggest chain and sprocket I have ever seen....

Its a lot of fun to work on and drive. I love it...

What kind of changer?
I have a working Pioneer trunk mount 6 disc stand lone unit with control and remote - if interested pm me.

Classic cars is my other hobby. Got a 71 Buick GS convertible, sort of take a step back from the games(even though a few come and go) during the summer to have fun with that.

Brian

Mines in the head unit itself, looks like this one. The changer jammed awhile ago and I basically had to break it to save the CD's stuck inside.

Aftermarket will be a PITA. My car is wired for the MACH sound system and has a very specific harness for it. Either way, my head unit still works, just dosent have a CD changer anymore :(

restoring air cooled Volkswagens and r/c airplanes, specifically, spads....

www.spadtothebone.com
and www.spadworld.net.

Truth is, i'm the guy that can fix pretty much anything. You'd be surprised at the things i fix, just because i enjoy it, everything from kids toys to your car's power windows... and lots of stuff in between. I also own and admin the second website posted above, as well as design and fly r/c planes. I've lost count how many countries i've had my airplane designs flown in, pretty much every continent except Antarctica.
As far as time spent, arcades win hands down. I love repairing pcb's, that's one of the most challenging things i've ever done, and so far has kept my interest as long as any hobby i've ever had.

Wicked!! :D

Kind of sad when I list my career as a hobby, but I'm deep into all things regarding computers. I make most of my personal machines, and have a nice lab setup where I test a lot of stuff. I've accumulated quite a nice little malware "zoo" of 300+ different pieces of malware, some of which I've reverse-engineered. Of course, this directly benefits my career.

Home theater. When I designed everything to finish our full basement last year, I designed it around the home theater setup. 124" Carada screen on the wall, 1080p projector, 7.1 surround, multiple rows of seating, the whole works...

Wine. I've got a decent-sized collection now...somewhere in the neighborhood of about 350 bottles, but I'm not exactly sure how many. Almost all are American wines, mostly CA and WA.

Basketball and swimming. Mostly swimming these days, as the Dr has cut my competitive hoops down quite a bit to save on my back. It has suffered over the years after taking quite a pounding playing a LOT of basketball. Used to play in competitive leagues, but I'm older now and after shattering my wrist playing against a bunch of younger kids and requiring arthroscopic surgery to repair it, I'm just doing rec ball with people I know.

Both this and my games are all being stored right now while we finish up our addition. Adding more space for both hobbies.

In the past I collected a wide assortment of stuff.

Baseball cards (as a kid anything. When older mostly catchers.)
Baseballs (most of them actual foul balls I got.)
Chasing foul balls, Got my pic on the front page of the life section (Starkville, mS Newspaper).
Unopened Root Beer cans
Sesame Street stuff (Lots of records. May have been lost in the move from AR).
Matchbox cars
He-man (My brother was into Starwars and still has all of his old figures.)
Records (For half a second I wanted to get every recond made. Luckly I dropped that).
VW Bugs (Hotwheels, Matchbox, Etc)
VW Bugs (Real ones. Had 8 at one time now only 1.)

Now I collect:

Arcade games (I try and limit this due to $$$, space, and there shear weight.)
Tokens (Mostly arcade/amusement)
Arcade Redemption tickets (I have over 300 different ones.)
Supernarket stuff (18 wheelers, history books, service pins, Etc. Haven't bought anything in a while.)
Turtles (Live ones. Mostly Snapping Turtles. Hope to turn it into a business someday.)

Always wanted to get into trains but I bet I would get tired of it fast. If I had the money I would get into Legos.

I used to race R/C cars and trucks and fly (crash) R/C planes. I'll scan some pics of the past collection a little later.

I also enjoy motorcycles; I have had dirt bikes since I was 10 years old, but lately have broken too many bones so I picked up a couple 300Ex's. They are a lot of fun. And after many years of owning a 750 Magna, I finally picked up a GSXR750 last year.. and I don't lke it so much, not comfortable at all - BUT MONDO FAST!

I play the guitar too; used to be in a few bands. Good head bangin' times!

:headbang:
