It's a toss up for me between my dedicated original Area 51 cab or one of my Williams rows, specifically the one pictured with Bubbles and Sinistar next to each other. I'm really thankful to have two really good shape, semi-uncommon uprights next to each other that I also love playing.
Area 51 is entirely sentimental to me. I'm a younger collector, only 27. So being born in '97 the Golden Age and even the 90's were really long over by the time I came into the world. So the one game I have intense nostalgia for (other than my Namco/Midway/Pole Position/Dig Dug games because I grew up playing Namco collections on the PS1) is actually Area 51. Class of '81 was pretty common in my time though… as such Galaga is my favorite game… I was obsessed with Area 51 though as a concept and the PS2 game and I just loved blasting alien zombies any time I saw one in an arcade, movie theater, Cici's Pizza, etc. I would beg for quarters from my parents. And now I have one. My very own. So while it isn't the most expensive, rare, or "show off" game out there, to me, it's my childhood.I have it in its own "shrine" lol in my arcade with the closet doors taken off.
There's a place for my modern PC and my PS5 but there's something special about the gameplay of Golden Age games. I'm not even into 90's beat 'em ups or "continues" or anything like that. Your hand/eye coordination, your skill, and your patience is all you need to play EXTREMELY fun games. I don't need bleeding edge game engines or graphics to be hooked on the dopamine train.I think it's great to see someone younger still taking an interest in coin op games, especially those classics! Most of this hobby seems to be nostalgia-driven with us older guys who grew up in the 80's (or earlier).
Marble madness and Pong hiding on the side of that photo you took! Lmao ( Read the question wrong! I thought i was meant to awsner what my favorite game in your collection was.) I guess I'll go with my X-Arcade Tankstick and Sega genesis for now!Ok, my turn to post a generic question post. Of all the stuff you have today in your collections what is your favorite piece? Doesn't have to be a game, just something that you're happy you have that's gaming/pop culture related. For me it's my Mold A Rama.View attachment 793439
