in arcade collecting some collectors have a favorite (nintendo, bally/midway, williams) what's yours and why? mine hands down atari. my top favorites are atari titles.

Im gonna vote Centuri. You dont see to many Centuri rows! Williams is a close second.

Btw...if anyone has a nice Centuri row, post a pic!

I have thought about this over the years and it makes sense to me based on how many games I own from a manufacturer. That being said, my collection has more Atari than anything else. I also own complete games from Williams, Bally/Midway, SEGA, Nintendo, Cinematronics and boards from the same plus Konami, Stern, Universal, Gottlieb, Mystar, SEGA/Gremlin, Taito, Namco, Centuri, Tecmo, and Capcom.

I also vote Midway. Although Williams and Nintendo are close 2nds for me.

This has probably been asked before, but isn't there some sort of poll plugin for this forum?

Centuri for sure. They seemed kind of like the underdogs in the arcade industry, but managed to put out some sweet games like Time Pilot, Vanguard, Phoenix, Pleides, and Gyruss. Plus, they made a ton of obscure games (Swimmer, The Pit, D-Day, Challenger, Guzzler, Tunnel Hunt, etc...).

Not to mention the cool cabinet designs and artwork. I actually think they had a lot of the art done by Willis, which makes them unique in that sense.

Not to mention that the cabinets are often VERY affordable today. I'm talking $150 or less for some of the more obscure titles.

I know it won't be the popular answer, but I say Konami. I know they don't make many dedicated games, but the Arcade games that became home ports like Haunted Castle(Castlevania), Contra, Gradius, Life Force, etc. were some of my favorite home games. Plus, the arcade classics that they had a hand in like Gyruss, Frogger, and Time Pilot are worth mentioning. They have a long history of epic shooters, as well as a long list of quirky rare jamma games that are usually pretty solid titles. All in all, Konami has been a longtime favorite.

But thats not to say that Atari, and Midway didn't rule the golden era.

25 games and over half are Atari. Atari #1 for me. Great vectors and awesome cabinet art.

I love playing Williams games as well, maybe if JROK didn't make such a good board I would have a few more Williams.

My top 5:

Atari
Williams
Midway
Taito
Stern

midway wins for me......

atari stuff sux, the hardware is just piss poor.. whens the last time you found a WORKING pole position?? i rest my case lol

I like Atari, then Midway next,Williams, and then Sega/Gremlin but all of them each had cool cabinets and artwork. What about that williams duramold cabinet (futurisitic huh)
