Your 2022 arcade goals/resolutions

*Firstly, some perspective: I have two arcades.
1. The main arcade is a commercial-grade (legit) 80s arcade with the capacity for 16 games (currently have 9).
2. The garage-cade/arcade restoration shop, has the capacity for 10 games (currently have 6)

*Secondly, I'll start off with what's been accomplished in 2022 already:

1. Acquired a fully-restored Zookeeper
2. Repaired DK (PS)
3. Repaired Burgertime (PS)
4. Repaired Alpine Ski (sent chassis out)
5. Repaired Moon patrol (fixed molex connector and sent PCB out)
6,. Finished PC-10 (DM) project (final step was lower monitor cap kit)
7. Fixed Quartet (daughter board came loose during move—whew!)

*Thirdly, what I hope to accomplish in the remaining 8 months:

1. Restore a Frogger for my daughter (tagged for a permanent spot in the garage-cade)
2. Restore a Roadblasters (for the main arcade)
3. Install a 4-way switcher and adapters in DK for my DK Jr PCB and Nibbler PCB (hope to also find a DK 3 PCB)
4. Install a switcher in 1943 for my Commando PCB
5. Acquire another game or two on my list
6. Install the Gun/holster on my PC-10 (DM)
7. Replace burned-out coin return bulbs and install freeplay buttons on machines that still need it.
8. Finish my Polaris cocktail restore (possibly the only one that still exists—anyone?)
9. Fix the gun issue on my Op Wolf

I think that's a reasonable list.

Remove Fix my TRON from the to do list! Correction. It wasn't 3 years, it was 4 YEARS! BUT FINALLY, thanks to Sean Dotson (replaced some troublesome CAPS and reflowed solder on suitcase) he tested and said the board was running fine. Also thanks to CDJUMP who rebuilt the power board after the original battery took out several components. Time to move this beast back into the arcade.
I think part of my issue was "what if they don't send my board back and I get SCAMMED"? REST assured both Sean Dotson and CDJUMP are trusted by the KLOV community. If anyone was worried, send your boards into either of these guys with confidence!! They are truly professional and easy to deal with.
Now, goals for 2022.
1. Restore Asteroids Deluxe (working) cosmetic fixes and coin door
2. Fix missing colors on Robotron monitor.
3. Learn how to do tube swaps for Karate Champ and Crazy Climber.
4. Recap Sanyo 20ez monitor in Popeye.
5. Restore DKJR cocktail and sell it.
6. Restore Bally Freedom Pinball. Needs lots of work, but it plays.
7. Find a coin box for TRON and Asteroids cocktail.
8. Buy some more High Score Save Kits.
9. Buy 2 missing frames for coin return on Joust. (Not sure of the correct term)
10. Buy Tapper or Wizard of Wor.
11. Save $$$$$ for a NIB Stern Pinball… or a nice used ☝️

However, once the nice weather is here to stay, not much time is spent in the Basement Arcade, so if I am able to cross 2 of these off my list, I'd be happy.

20 years since seeing Dave Dries Arcade 84, have always been inspired by it. Who else?

The goal for 2022 is to have all 4 cockpits shown in the video and to have them all working. It's taken a lifetime of collecting for me personally but it's always been the goal, some of my best memories at arcades growing up.

I love the hobby and enjoy hearing about other people's projects, stories, why they do it, what drives them and I hope to always share the same passion for it!

Just following up on this for 2022.. a quick demo of the 4 Arcade Cockpit style games featured in Dave Dries Arcade '84 in full working order! All original ++ a Pole Position cockpit running a PPII pcb and the Spyhunter cockpit restored this year. Next year I'll work on the Spyhunter monitor or just replace it with a burn free one that I have in storage but the good news is that the game is fully functional and it's just a detail. All games are running on original hardware, original pcb's. Star Wars has its original 25" Amplifone monitor tube with a 6100 high voltage and deflection pcb hack on a plate, it's been very reliable. Mach 3 is running the original laser disc on its original Pioneer PR-8210 laser disc player. Custom padded seat rests were stitched on Star Wars & PP to provide more comfort while still allowing the sound to come through.

Amp up the stuff I do.
Keep my passion high for stuff I find fun to do.

Buy more arcade machines.
Convert the ones I have into epic arcade memories. Support the good people in this hobby.

Bring attention to those who deserve it.
I am amping things up.
Still finding stuff.

Spit balling some great ideas for 2015.

Make a nice arcade tour video
Then sell at least 10 games including some of my minis
Fill the gaps with other games from inventory that haven't been played in a while
Make another tour video with the new setup
Keep watching for some favorites that I've never owned and grab them if I can
And finally invite friends over to play again!

Ah shit.

I've reached my goal for the year by grabbing another Bronze Age game. Maybe get another one next year? We'll see...

I don't see any game purchases for me next year, but I do see some parts that will be sold off. I'll also buy some parts here and there to spruce up a few games…a K4800 and a K4900 chassis overhaul for sure.

Jason
