You probably played Oregon Trail [ GDC post-mortem talk ]

Sixth grade on an Apple IIe.

Also had to input code as a class assignment for Happy Hurdler and another game that I think was called Artillery (hard to remember).

I played a ton of it from 4th to 6th grade on the Apple IIe... though yeah, it was definitely old by then ('92-'94 or so). Oregon Trail, Carmen Sandiego, and my favorite was probably Odell Lake. In 7th grade we moved to the Mac Classic lab, and played How the West was One (math game) and Lemonade Stand.

I also bought it for DOS when I got my 486, and a friend of mine had a Windows version that used a mouse for hunting, which was pretty cool.

The school district had an old bus painted green that went from school to school, filled with Apple 2es we called it the pickle bus [emoji590]

That's where I played it for the first time in 3rd grade

I sucked at Oregon trail. I always died....couldn't shoot food, sunk my wagon, etc. Thank God I wasn't born in 1848.

I played on the computers in our high school library (graduated 90). It was the only 'game' on the computer so ended up playing a lot. The only thing I remember is getting dysentery a bunch. I did enjoy playing.

I think I first played it in 5th grade in our Jr. High computer lab. The other game we played a ton of before that was Rainbow Trout. Does anyone remember the programmable robot that Apple developed? We had that dude at the lab too. He got moved around the classrooms during the school year. The game I remember most from our high school computer lab was Conan the Barbarian.

Holy crap I forgot about that game! The school districts across the country must have had access to the same software bundles. Also played Break Out, one game that translated to the Apple pretty much perfectly with a paddle controller.

Played it on the Apple IIe. Along with swimming/diving and Swashbuckler

The best was Lode Runner though. You could create your own levels

I used to play it at my buddy's house in the mid 80's... on a C64 I think. I sucked pretty bad at it, but loved it anyway. I remember playing more Bard's Tale though, I think it just came out.

My kids got a big kick out of Oregon Trail when I first described it to them. Then, it showed up as an episode of Teen Titans Go and they fell in love with it. It's a really funny episode, but I love Teen Titans Go. They all die of dysentery at the end.

My wife picked up an Oregon Trail card game at Target just this week. We are putting it in my 10 year old's Easter basket: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/205322/oregon-trail-card-game

We played Wizardy and Oregon Trail on the apple iie and Bards Tale in the typing lab on a C64.
I still use Dos Box to play the Bards Tale series on my computer and am looking forward to Bards Tale 4 coming out later this year :)
