Realizing that you have no more room !! I bought my first game and then started buying everything I could. Then I realized some of the games I bought werent as good as they seemed when I was a kid. So then I chased the rare games and realized half of them are rare becuase they sucked. Then the kids got bored of them and the wife/kids now want a theatre room. So I keep the ones I want and start finishing the basement. Do a test run on the weekend of where everything is going to go before the drywall goes up. This is where it hits me that Im done out of space. Wow that sucks. It was fun always having that one more game to look for. Now Id have to get rid of one of the games I really want to keep to get another. This sucks !!

Try being the rest of us. Most of us here have already collected beyond our means to display and have stuff in storage or packed so tightly in our garages that we can't even play half the shit. I want to get rid of a couple games to get my collection manageable, but honestly I can't bear to part with anything in particular because I enjoy it all.

Well except maybe the South Park pinball machine, but I ain't gonna get back what I've got into it, ever.

Build/buy a storage shed for your backyard, if you have the room. Or let a friend keep it at his place for you.

And what game is it that you have to get rid of anyway?

I'm at an even more angering point--I have room for ONE MORE GAME, but the circuits are at their limit and I already blow a breaker if I turn on the big games after the smaller ones, so there's no way I could add any more. ARGH! Hopefully I'll find a bigger place for games soon with better electric ;)

Yep... it does suck.

Just wait 'til you get a pin and have to sell two games to make room. Then when you see how much more fun the pins are to non-hobbiest(ie the family) you realize you'll probably have to sell or store more vids because one pin just isn't enough.

It's a vicious cycle... but still kinda fun nonetheless. :)

uh oh! what you selling now?

Agreed. That does suck!

However for those of us that don't have full game rooms, then it would be a better problem than ours.

try living in an apartment! Talk about space restrictive,I have 5 vids one of which is a BEAST,arctic thunder deluxe edition(in the living room),1 slot,1 fun chicken and a UR photo booth in here! Having an understanding wife and a son who likes them as much as me helps alot. Good luck bro.

I was thinking about how nice it would to get my garage back... but that would mean I would have to let go of 10 vids and 2 pins...

...and that's not about to happen.

I can only think of 2 games I'd "like" to see sold... and even those will be missed. The rest ... well... I want `em!

Whatever you do, DON'T get into the storage trap. I just found registration papers when I signed up for my storage unit(s), 3 10x20s. The date was 2006....and I only recently closed the last one down.

each 10x20 rented for $145/mo..... do that math and it WILL make you sick.

Never again....no no no.

I did that for a year and it was actually taking my "play" funds away. no no no is right!

let me know if it your storage sheds go up for auction and be sure to hide crap in front of them

actually, i'm disappointed not doing the storage option as i would still have all my games in the past but then again, i more than likely would've ended up in your position and been regretting it.

You only think you're out of space.

Go take a measuring tape and check out the width of an average game.
Then go measure:

  • refrigerator
  • washer
  • dryer
  • unused doorway
  • nightstand
  • dresser

you get the idea

I removed our water softener to fit Mario Bros. in the Nintendo row... :)

Most of us have said it..... well, storage will only be for a month or so. These words are usually spoken during the time of a large game buyout. Well, if you're picking up 30 or so games at once, sure....storage is the easiest option. But storage units are a vortex both to time and your wallet.

I had 60 games, could only fit 30 in the game room....it was just stupid. I had some rare/oddball titles and had no place for them. Each month it was just carving away at the account. Pretty much the expense can get as much as a car payment, think about it. I know of one other collector in LA that had up to 7 10x20 units....and he wasn't paying $40/unit either. It's just not smart and for me was a huge lesson learned. To anyone out there even considering more than one month of storage, seriously re-consider that.

I'm down to 17 games now and am not sure why the thinning didn't happen earlier. No mo stoRAGE for me.

I passed up the enough space for the games I own point long ago. Ok that's a lie really but I like to have space for living that is not filled with games. Not much but some. I knew I'd never go down the storage route as I saw the money pit that would be long ago. For now I've simply decided to down size to where I can comfortably live and play my games. Not there yet but slowly working there. In the future I'd like to build on another room on to my house just for games. Some games in my current space would end up there but it should also allow me to add more games at that time. Honestly other than maybe three games I really have all my must have titles. The other space would likely be games of the moment that I'd occasionally sell and trade out for another title.

Im glad Im not the only one feeling the pain !!! I cant have any more games in the garage as Im in the middle of the snow ball belt and my car has to park in there. No room outside as the wife would never give up her hot tub. Im happy with my collection and I do have room for one more pin. But it was fun looking through the forums looking for just one more game. I guess I can always keep an eye out for parts. Or I need a bigger house. Or get smaller games.
