You heard it here first :) Be careful with Arcade 1Up machines because they are 'Vintage'

Looks like it's a vertical K4600...you can tell because there isn't much of a gap between the chassis and the sides of the frame.

Doesn't change anything about your conclusion, though!! :p

Well sh--. If that's a true 4600 vertical frame monitor mounted in a 1 UP? I think I'm gonna quit this damn hobby!

Next thing you know the Arcade 1 UP groups are going to be searching for original 1UP back doors! Having their own damn mystery threads!!

They have such a commanding presence about them. I thought this one looked particularly stunning sitting in one of our local restaurants.

Thanks,

Huh! Nobody playing it. I guess all the midgets with bad taste have moved on to something else...

(Side note: I've already heard of the vintage 1UP Dragon's Lair machines selling at a premium)

Star Wars was getting a pretty hefty resale plus up for a while, but it looks like it's back down to earth (see what I did there?) lately.

I'm surprised it didn't collapse from the extra weight.
That's what I was thinking. I played one of these while in Washington DC at the Smithsonian Museum store, where they had it on display. To call it "flimsy" would be an understatement. It moved around when people were playing it normally - not going crazy by any stretch of the imagination.

Last night we stopped by a local ice cream shop. They have had 2 Arcade 1up Pac-Man machines there for a while, and I've not paid much attention to them. I had a moment, so I gave one the operating machine a try.

Their signage begged us to be careful with their 'Vintage' Pac-Man machines, and not to let young children under 7 years old use them.

I guess 24 months makes something vintage and fragile, and not the consumer grade construction. (Side note: I've already heard of the vintage 1UP Dragon's Lair machines selling at a premium).

In a statement for which hundreds here might go 'duh', let's just say I found the joystick 'lightweight' compared to the original which was not conducive to a record breaking score.

Pretty funny, they probably don't want anybody trashing them, that's all

Yeah I had a dig dug counter cade and the game play was ok, the cheap Sanwa joystick and sanwa buttons made it even worse to play, I changed the joystick to a wico and it was just horrible to play, I removed the wico and threw it out to the trash on trash day, never again

I had a guy come buy a game from me and he saw I had a dragons lair one up. He got all excited and asked if it was for sale. I told him it wasn't real it's a 1up. He said he knows but they sell for a ton of money. I told him $500 and he couldn't get the money out fast enough. I thought I did pretty good until I looked on eBay at completed auctions and saw they were selling for. $2000

This is a picture of a Toddler playing their version of "Rampage", which is a 3 player game. As you can see, the Toddler takes up the space of two joysticks. They made a three player game that three TODDLERS can't play at the same time.

Lol! When we took our son to Michigan Tech a few years ago to start freshman semester, they had one of those in one of the dorm's rec rooms. I was like "WTH is that?" Can you imagine a bunch of college kids hunkered around that thing? Also some mame cocktail, I guess??

For those not familiar with where Houghton, MI is, it is in a pretty remote part of the state. And those little 1Up's have infiltrated there, as well.
