You guys will NEVER guess who I had a conference call with today!!

Billy Mitchell and Walter Day!!!

a fellow KLOVer here (MIKEATUNION) told me a walter day was interested in the tutankham I am selling. Well The name did not ring a bell initially to be honest. Walter called me today to discuss shipping arrangements when he ultimately said...."Hold on a minute. I am going to get Billy on the phone". When Billy got on the phone, he was introduced as Billy Mitchell. Billy started talking business with me and after a few minutes said. Hold on a sec. He had to take another call. Well, at this moment, I asked Walter if that was THE Billy Mitchell. He said. Yup. I said...Very cool. (DUH). Anyway, I realized it was the Walter Day from Twin Galaxies once he told me he was sending me a few autographed posters!! UNFRIGGIN REAl. I was in Awe.

My Tut will be included in the International Video Game Museum which will be opening up next August. Who's goin for the grand opening? I think it is going to be in IOWA, Walter's home town state.

Huh. I have almost the same exact story from when I donated my space invaders deluxe to the hall of fame. I spoke with the both of them as well. Walter sent me about 10 autographed posters. Very cool indeed! Walter is a class act.

So, do you think it's a schtick that they have w/ each donor? If not, what a coincidence.

FWIW, I'm not one of those people that are anti-Billy Mitchell, or whatever. That takes too much energy that I'd rather be applying elsewhere in my life...

I was thinking about it as well. But not once did Walter mention donation. We discussed purchase. I asked him if I could get my name on a plaque attached to the game and that is when he said he would have to check with the board but usually they do that when a game is donated. I did not say I would donate it or I wouldn't. I just said oh. I have to think about that one. But objectively no one shoved donation down my throat.

Walter seems very nice. Billy was very pleasant on the phone as well. More about business though but pleasant. Still was cool speaking to them mainly because I did not expect to.

Billy has the resources when it comes to shipping since he has his hot sauce company. Walter is nice as can be. Billy was all business on the phone but very nice when I met him in Ottumwa Iowa

Upon reading the title of this thread, Billy Mitchell was the first person I thought of.

Your thread title is invalid.

:)

Walter expected you to know billy mitchell so he used that as softening to make it easier for you to donate the game. Very simple tactic.

I dont know if i would donate a game to them. They have the $$ to pay for the machines.

Glad to hear your hooking Walter up with the game. Iowa is not prime hunting ground for machines.

Don't believe the Hype in the movie. Every story needs drama. Billy Mitchell is not the bad guy he was made out to be. Both of these guys are exceptional people. I attended the Big Bang and got to meet them. Billy donated hundreds of posters, and took the time to greet everyone who wanted to speak to him. Walter Day is an incredibly positive person. Both of these guys are in really creating interest in classic gaming again.

Anyway I am glad to hear it worked out.. you game will be used next year for lots of cool photo opportunities. They will be taking a xx years later picture of the life cover.

So did they talk you down in price?
