You decide; what will it become?

Picked this up today for $60. This is surely going to be my biggest project ever. A Popeye cabinet with a DK back door, a Vs. control panel, and a red-tent monitor. Talk about mutt! Beat to shit, badly. It will not be scrapped or destroyed. But I cant decide what it should be restored into? A Popeye, a DK, or a VS system? Or something else?

Nice pick up and good luck with the restoration! I really love nintendo cabs! I would line up 10 of them if I could!

"Dedicated" Vs. Castlevania is my suggestion!

:)

Cheapest would be unisystem since you have the CP and bezel for it already. DK would be the most expensive but most rewarding.

Are you sure thats a red tent monitor? Looks like the original monitor to me, just missing the top mount bar. My DK was also missing that bar when I brought it home, thank god theres protection around the neck or it would have broke during the haul for sure. I fab'd a new top mount bar out of a piece of unistrut and L-brackets.

Make it into a VS so I can come over and play Excite Bike. In return, you can play DK or DK 3 here.

I am actually not sure. The seller said that was what it was from. I honestly have no clue.

Anyways, everybodys input is needed! I am hearing lots of Popeye and VS suggestions. Keep in mind that cost to build shouldnt be a deciding factor.

look again, I thought it looked like a normal 20ez at first, but then I realized the tube is horizontal

i have a nice arkanoid kit for a nintendo cab if you want. pcb, harness, populated wooden cp, and marquee. as long as the monitor has an inverter board you will be set.

People say Vs... nawh.

I say a Popeye that can play both Popeye and Donkey Kong(very possible). or vis versa :)

I think most Vs. games should be played on a Nintendo Red Tent in my opinion. So why don't you throw out the Vs. Option. :D

vs uni or pc10.. the dk craze is over so dont build another one just for that purpose.

I wish i could find a ninty cab locally.

IIRC, a red tent tube measures 18". An original monitor for that upright should be 20". With that in mind, a quick measurement should confirm one way or the other.

I was definitely thinking Playchoice 10 also, that seems to have a lot wider (or easily available) selection of games.

Is there a major difference between a Vs. Uni or Playchoice?
