York pin show. Wish someone had mentioned it here. :(

Never heard of that one.
I thought we only got chocolate from that neighborhood!

Next year's dates are 10/9/26 and 10/10/26. I've been trying for years to get more involvement from the local video collectors as it is a gameroom show and not just a pinball show like everyone thinks but never get any traction.

Here was my first two sightings when I pulled into the parking lot this year (I've been going for 20?years). But yes, 80% pinball I'd say.

I was there! It was quite fun. Participated in the TRON tournament. Didn't win :)
You should have tracked me down and said hi.

In hindsight Tron wasn't the best choice in tournament games. It went on for hours. There were people that were dominating the game, and others that never played it before and were confused by the controls. Several managed to score 0. But we had a pseudo Tron theme this year so we went with it. We usually go with something obscure like Blaster to try to even the playing field a bit. It is tough to come up with a game that is fair when no matter what game we pick there is someone there that owns one.

Did you notice that the shirts were also Tron themed? Sure, it confused some of the pinball collectors but we don't get new Tron movies often and well, I couldn't see the movie on opening day due to the show. I still haven't had a chance to go see the movie, I'm on call for work.

The guy in picture moving Spy Hunter also had a pretty nice Gravitar in his booth. They weren't ever set up for play. He was using his booth as a swapping area as he does a ton of deals and had several games presold and several games coming in.

York is such a great show. I've only been once but hope to get back there in a few years. I love it for all of the early electromechanical pins and bingos.

I've been going to the Allentown show for longer than I can remember, love it. Went to York for the first time last year. If you are used to Allentown, and it's your first visit to York, it's underwhelming. It's a decent show, but you can walk the entire thing in less than ten minutes. For me, it's not worth a 6.5hr drive, unless I succumb to peer pressure, again...

I live about midway between York and Allentown. I go to Allentown Pinfest every year. I checked out the York show last year; with the name "Game Room Show" I was expecting a ton of variety in what was being displayed and sold. It was mostly pinball plus the typical tables full of bits of wiring harness, tin bar signs, and random power supplies and sound boards. Truthfully, I stayed for about 45 minutes, played a few games, and then went over to Timeline Arcade in York for the afternoon (which is well worth a trip on its own!). I am happy to support a local event and had no problem paying the admission for a short stay, it just wasn't the vibe or content I was expecting I guess.

I will try to make it a point to check it out again next year but it wasn't in the cards this year due to the kids' marching band schedule. I would love to actually meet some other KLOVers.

The thing about any of these shows is that they rely heavily on involvement from the collector community. The collectors are getting to the age where moving the games around is getting difficult. The stupidly high prices of the games nowadays has been pretty effective in deterring new people from getting involved in the hobby. Attendance from the both the people bringing games and the public declined after Covid happened. This year was the first year that the attendance through the door was in the normal range for pre covid days.

I've been trying for years to get more involvement from the video collectors but for whatever reason, they don't seem interested. I don't understand it myself as compared to moving pinballs around, moving arcade games is cake and shows like CA extreme seem to attract the video game collectors. I'd love to hear some suggestions on how to get more involvement from the video game collectors.

Its a blast. Only brought one game for freeplay this year, but note you can get in for free if you bring a pin or arcade. I think the Allentown show is quite a bit bigger and more fun for pinball with the York show being more geared toward electro mechanical games. Still think its worth a 2 or 3 hour drive. There are a ton of great arcades in the area and on the way. If coming from down South you can also grab amish food! 1762196613811.png

Thanks for bringing your game. I see you were set up behind some of my games. Allentown is indeed larger by about 30% Not only do you get in free to the show, we also do a cash drawing for people that bring games and keep them on the floor all weekend. Although, since it doesn't seem to help and the typical response from the winners is "I didn't know about this" we may not do it in the future.

The arcade over at the York Galleria Mall is my personal favorite.

Bringing a game also gets you in a day early (Thursday setup day) which is when many of the best deals happen.

Bring a game! Support the scene!
