I'm wondering about doing a chassis swap to make one good monitor from two, and was wondering if anyone knows if the yokes are the same on a 19k7901 and a 19k7201. Both use a small neck tube.

The neckboards look similar......

If you have both yokes go ahead and test them with a multimeter. Measure resistance across the windings, I believe the colors will be red to blue and green to yellow. Compare the numbers and if they are close then you should be able to just swap chassis.

I would have, but one is out on location and a bit of a drive. So, I thought I'd ask the pro's here first...perhaps save a trip.

A regular K7000 yoke (which should be for your 7901) has these readings:

H - 2.9-ohms
V - 13.1-ohms

A K7201 yoke has these readings:

H - 2.5-ohms
V - 6.8-ohms

Those are two drastically different monitors. I'd be shocked if they used the same yokes (though, I don't know).

i did this search AFTER i installed the new chassis...
i have a 13k7800 that went out and i have a working 13k7201...i thought they'd work the same since they were both k7000's
i fired up the working 7201 with the 7800 yoke, it looked great for about 30 seconds then smoke...
C50 blew...
is it because of the difference in the yoke specs?
i have a horizontal line now from vertical collapse...other than changing out the yoke, can i just replace C50 or should i replace IC3 also?

I honestly do not know an answer to your question, but for people who find this post in the future (and for clarity)........13K7800 is part of the K7000 series.......a K7201 IS NOT part of the K7000 series.
