So I get a monitor to repair the other day from a friend. He's having me look at it for a friend of his. His friend bought the monitor from an op for cheap, The op told him it needed a new fly "or something". I finally get around to looking at it and notice that it's a
Kortek K1-2-VOA. But it's stuck on a 25" tube. Everything I can find on this chassis states it's for a 19" tube. For some reason I suspect that it has been hooked up and powered on and didn't work. I checked the yoke resistance and it is 27.4 Ohms on the vert and .9 on the horiz. It seems to be in between hi and low Z yokes. I would call it a high Z though. I hooked the ring tester up to it and the vert tested really low very close to the bad reading.

So I guess my question is, does anyone know what tube a K1-2-VOA chassis is supposed to drive and and is it possible for a yoke to be bad other than shorted or open?

I have quite a few chassis I could replace this with but I believe they are all for low impedance yokes. K7000, Pro Max, A-1 etc...
Is there a way to tell from the chassis what type of yoke it uses?
I have a couple Promax I think that have the values stated on the side but they are for low Z.

Anyone know?

Kortek..

Kortek has a few chasssis that are stamped with K1-2-VO that are different.

Example: I have a K1-2-V0 (stamped on the board) but it's a KTX26. I actually have that monitor out of the cab, so I can give you a yoke reading when I get home if you want. I remember one side being relatively high, but forget the other.

Anyway, even though you have a board with that stamped on it, it could be one of the other "big brothers" to the K1-2-V0. post a pic.

OK, as promised, here are the pics of the chassis in question.

Your model number is right there on that paper label above the flyback controls: KT-2001SF

Casino Tech is the Kortek service center. They recently revamped their website and all tech support manuals are off line.

If you contact them (telephone is best) and tell them what model you have they can email you the service manual/parts list.

Hey Ken, thanks for the link, I saw the label but I couldn't find anything with that number so I went off of the label on the solder side of the board. Do you know if the "20" in the 2001SF means it's for a 19/20" monitor? I just don't wanna hook this thing up to test it and fry the yoke.

I had to go back and look what game the monitor came from. It appears to have been from a Moon Patrol, so that would make it 19"...

you have a burnt ....looks like a resistor on your board from the looks of the top picture. And your vert yoke reading sounds pretty high to me...I'm more used to 6-7 ohms on a vert. yoke with a reading similar to yours on the horz. yoke.

Thanks for checking, that's what I needed to know.

Yeah, I haven't even checked this chassis out yet but I did see that first thing. It's a diode, I checked it on the Huntron and it's still good. Not sure about the yoke though.
