My name is John and I currently reside in beautiful Pensacola Florida! I have a Neo Geo Big Red and I'm a member over on neo-geo.com, but am looking to expand to some other cabinets soon. 90's arcade games are my shtick, and I plan on setting up a small publically accessable arcade of the cream of the classic arcade crop to fill the void of good arcade gaming in my area.

I signed up for KLOV because finding good arcade hardware in this nearly arcade-less stretch of the gulf is pretty tough and I thought I could get some tips and buy some games from you lot.

I heard you guys are like ng without all the clinical insanity, sounds nice :p

Welcome aboard John! Good fishing around your parts!

If you are having trouble finding games, look towards Alabama and Louisiana too, I see stuff pop up there from time to time.

Thanks man! And if any of you guys catch wind of some good cabinets in my area, stuff like dynamo uprights and capcom set up stuff drop me a PM and let me know, It'll be a big help!

Welcome!

We have our own drama here, but it's not even close to what you get over on the NG forums. ;)

Welcome aboard John! I'm about an hour away from you in Crestview, and I also have a Big Red (bought from George over at neo-geo.com a while back). Glad to have you aboard!

hi nice to meet someone even one state away. I think I decided Nintendo and classics are my thing after having the beat'em up cab I have. A neo would be nice for easy game swaps tho...

It's good to see some of you guys close by but.. Tron, I bought MY 4-slot from a man named George who lives in fort walton beach!

mind = blown

Haha you must have bought his OTHER Big Red then, the one with the speakers above the marquee. I have a pic somewhere of both machines side-by-side, I'll see if I can find it. Check it out, we have siblings! lol

Dude I'm trippin out! But it's cool to know my closest known neo neighbor and I are so serendipitously connected.
What all did you do to restore yours? I've actually been on the lookout for new marquee plexiglass for mine (mines got a crack in it).

Haha Yep, those are our girls! I did a full strip down and resto of mine. Here's a few pic of the cab, mid-resto. I bought two pieces of 1/8" plexi from Lowes and sandwiches the marquee between them. The marquee from your pic didn't come with mine, I had to buy a duplicate from eBay. I also had to replace the 4 slot mobo, completely rewire the coin door, and buy new credit counter LED boards and a memory card slot board for mine (George used the parts from mine in yours). Still tho, not bad for $50 lol.

As far as major resto, I started with enamel-based paints from Lowes: flat black and color-matched Neo Red (as I call it) along with the medium grey primer. There was a great big chunk of wood broken on the bottom corner of mine that I wound up regluing it then reinforcing it with wood glue and Bondo. You'd never know it had been damaged now. I replaced the stock T-molding with a nice deep red that goes great with the orange.

Here's the best pic I have here at work of her finished with the new T-molding, sitting beside her sister "Big Red Too"

Nice! The next cab I'm looking for is actually a dynamo cab like that, planning on doing mine blue, for capcom gaming justice! Never been good at street fighter, but we had a Marvel Super Heroes machine like that near my house and I played the heck out of it.

Awesomely (I guess thanks to george :p), apart from the marquee, my Lady in red didn't need too much aside from a cleaning, and there's a few decals I plan on reapplying, like the player 1 - player 2 one.
