I'll be in your neck of the woods this Friday through Mon afternoon.

Any spots I must check out? Any cool bars that might have a few games, or pins?

I'm going to see the Pats play Sunday (which is why the trip is happening) but other than that, the wifey and I wanna check out all the cool Seattle spots. If anyone wants to grab a beer, we will be out and about.

Add-A-Ball is pretty neat, and Full Tilt in Ballard has a great lineup of pins in awesome condition (the op there is a SMAC & KLOV member and puts great pride in the quality of his machines.) make sure to try some of the very good house-made ice cream if you do hit Full Tilt. both are not far from each other though parking can be tough, especially on weekend evenings.

Shorty's is the easiest to access without a car as it is near downtown; the condition of the pins there can be suspect and it's likely to be busy on the weekend but it's well themed and the dogs are tasty.

the Pinball Museum has a good lineup and lots of machines; play all you want for one price. also pretty easy to get to without a car. make sure you check hours as it's volunteer-run and not always open when you think it should be.

oh, yeah, and if you're looking specifically for video games Dorky's is the place to hit. if you happen to be up north nearer to Everett there's Another Castle which is a console gaming store with an attached arcade space and about 30 games, but i wouldn't recommend driving far out of your way to go there.

I hope jow doesn't mind if I jump in here for a semi related post. I'm having a birthday/arcade party Sunday the 14th just north of Seattle, and I threw him an invite.

I thought I'd post the offer here for any KLOV members in the area as well. I already posted the info to our local SMAC group, but figured I'd mention it here in case anyone local but not in SMAC is interested in stopping by.

The party is an informal get together where anyone who would like can show up from noon on. Stay as long as you like! We'll have snacks, food for the grill, pizza, etc..

Current lineup:
Dr. Who pinball
Star Trek 25th Anniversary pinball
Indiana Jones (Williams) pinball
Target Alpha pinball
Tempest upright
Asteroids Deluxe cabaret
Japanese Blast City with vertical monitor that I can put various shmups into.
Madden Football cabinet that I'm trying to wire for JAMMA and get a Neo Geo with multi cart into before Sunday.

Send me a PM if you think you might make it and I'll send you my address.
Tom

I defiantly agree on Full Tilt, great ice cream and good cheap beers. I get up to the area 3-4 times a year to visit my kids. They haven't quite hit the age I can take them to shorty's or dorky's yet, but next year!!

I hadn't heard of another castle. I'll have to check that out next trip as they live closer to Everett anyway.

'Preciate all the responses.

We are actually staying at the Mediterranean Inn on Queen Anne Ave so I'm not sure where all these spots are in relation to there, but hopefully they aren't too far. We didn't rent a car only because daily parking was crazy expensive, we didn't want to have to worry about paying to park @ the Stadium, and we figured we'd just do the public transportation thing (assuming its OK there) or cab everywhere and just walk around. I'm really looking forward to visiting Seattle. I've heard its freaking rad.

Shorty's is very close to you. In my opinion it is within walking distance but others may disagree.

The Pinball Museum is a few blocks East of Centurylink field, right near the game.

The other places will be out of your way but if you want to catch the Seattle scene then you are right next to the Space Needle and there is currently a ferris wheel right on the waterfront in the sound. It is adjacent to the Seattle Waterfront Arcade. There are a few games there with two modern Stern pins last time I was there.

We will walk anywhere (Im really hoping its not pouring, ha) so I'll check it out. Thanks again for the info.

Dorky's Bar Arcade is in Tacoma, about 35 miles south of Seattle and it takes 45-75 minutes to drive there depending on traffic. It is worth the trip, though, as it is the biggest and best old school arcade in western Washington.

Last but not least, I'm told my basement arcade is pretty nice. ;) My wife catches an early morning flight this Saturday to NYC to visit her family for a week, so I'm around all weekend with little to do and no place to be. I'd be happy to drive you guys around, including to Dorky's if you wanna go, and you are of course welcome to visit my place and I can invite the SMAC group over, many of whom are KLOVers. I can do Friday night for that, if needed, or Saturday. I live in West Seattle, just a few miles from downtown.

I won't infringe upon Paladin's birthday party he's having at his place on Sunday though, but you're going to the football game that day anyway. If you want to go to Paladin's party after the game is over maybe we could coordinate my picking you up and I can drive us. I've known Tom for a few years now and still have never been to his place, so I'd like to go myself.

Send me a PM if you need anything.

Current forecast for Saturday:

"Chance of rain 60% with rainfall amounts near 0.2 in. possible."

If so that'll be the first real rainfall we've had since early June.

Man, thank you for all of this (and your offer to come check the place out). We are gonna sit down tonight and figure out our plan. We don't get in until close to 9P on Friday night, but also don't leave until 2P I think on Monday.

Could come by my basement arcade out in Carnation if you'd like. Could invite some other locals over too. I've been meaning to have more parties there. . . .

Early June, of course, when I was there. I thought it always rained? :D

I must say SanTe has quite a nice collection and is one of the nicest guys I have met as were all the other SMAC people. Had a great time at his place and really appreciated his hospitality.

Sounds like you are in for a fun weekend.
