Acquired this with a "spare board" which was actually boards, cage, PS. Because old PS looks to have been bad so last owner "shotguned it"
What is strange is neither board shows opponents same issue on both board so I assumed maybe voltage, adjusted +5 as it was a little low, no change, reseated chips, ohmed ribbons and player cables to no avail.

Before I find someone to repair BOTH boards.I have seen a few posts missing opponents but never a solution. Anyone have any other ideas - Test show everything is OK too.

Its just weird how he could have 2 separate sets of stuff with the EXACT same issue?? Is my luck just that bad?

Any ideas/hints/tips/tricks/guesses (educated and not) would be helpful.. Ill owe the winner a cold one.

that "IS" weird. 2 boards with the EXACT same problem?? What would be the odds?
I was having color issues, and monitor blinking issues with my Punch-Out. It ended up being an old and very worn down Edge Connector on my harness. Perhaps inspecting your harness edge connector and making sure everything is happy there. Just a place to start....

I would check your +5 at the board and make it 5.15 or so and see if that changes anything. I have seen those boards wig out a bit with lower voltages. Also check your edge connector. They get loose quite commonly.

You guys have a great point. I will check some of the "non changed" items like the edge connector and wiring. I never thought of that. Greg.. I will kick up the voltage a bit too and report back. Its gotta be NOT board related. Unless I have REALLY bad luck.
Thanks

How do you adjust the voltage in a super punch out cabinet? Is it easy/safe for "newbies?" I am having a similar issue with the graphics. The game restarts to intro/splash screen every time I fight great tiger. I wanted to try to up the voltage.

Both challenger and opponent sprites are generated on the middle PCB so if you have the challenger sprites visable but not opponent it's most likely not a voltage issue. My guess would be an issue with the opponent RAM or ROM control/addressing circuitry.
