I've decided that it's time to start documenting my Pacman restoration. I picked up this empty painted-over cabinet a few years ago, and it collected dust until I finally started working on it last week.

I need to pull my "before" pictures off my wife's camera, but here are some in-progress shots.

I decided to sand one side, and use Citrastrip on the other for comparison.

Which do I prefer? In this case, the sanded side. Why? Because it turns out my cabinet had a pretty thick factory coat of high-build primer to smooth out the plywood. The citrastrip did a great job, but it removed the primer as well, leaving a rough surface that's going to take a lot more bondo than the sanded side. (I'm not knocking citrastrip, it just looks like it wasn't the best choice for my laziness.)

What's worse than a hacked-up control panel with extra buttons? One with mud-dauber nests in the joystick!

Here's one that's visible.

There were quite a few all over the cabinet. I'd swear it had sat outside, but there's minimal signs of water damage.

Finally had a chance to do some more work.

I did discover one thing,
either:
a) I don't know how to use a foam roller
or
b) the foam roller I used was crappy.

I suppose both could be true. In any case, I've got a lot of orange-peel to knock down.
