I'm working on getting my new Ms Pacman cab up and running, but in the mean time I have to make a decision on the side art.

I'd be game for stenciling the side art (if I can get my hands on some) or I'd be open to removing the gray coat of paint that is over the original. I've been doing some research and picked up a can of Goof Off. Practicing on the back door has lead to smearing and removal of the original blue. I'm a little leery of trying it on the sides.

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

I've heard nothing but good about Citristrip. If you want stencils or to restore the paint, PM jeff412 on here. He can make special vinyl decals (supposedly look and feel like paint) for just the pink or stencils.

Here are some general pics of the state of my cab as of now. Game still isn't working but here is what I've been able to fit in:

-Cut lock on security bar
-Removed lock on coin door
-Removed lock on back door
-Replaced ballast in marquee so it lights
-Reseated chips and replaced broken ROM

Still a long way to go... (In the last pic you can see my attempts and removing the paint, tried aerosol Goof Off and Citristrip without much luck with rubbing or scraping)

Update on the side art: Didn't have any luck with Goof Off, Goof Off Graffiti, or Citristrip. Turns out hot, soapy water and a putty knife worked wonders.

I'm glad to see the original art but I can see why they painted over it as it is somewhat rough. I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts as to whether I should keep it, attempt touch ups or try to go the stencil route if I can find some.

That doesn't look too bad. Jeff412 can make some mew pink sections in vinyl to "unfade" it. I'd go and match that blue paint at a paint store, it looks a bit light.

Use 409 on a paper towel to sort of even out those blotchy blue spots.

I would try touching it up, it's complete enough to not need stencils honestly. Lookin' good. But if you decide to go the vinyl way those are great too, my repro cab has that type of sides and it's still as vibrant as it was when I got it 9 years ago.

Just an update on this. Was able to pick up an "untested" board for $17 on ebay. I figured I'd take a risk and use it for parts if it didn't work. Put it in the cab and after some adjustments on the monitor, it looks and plays great.

I won a marquee from the same seller I got the board from and the pink is much nicer than what I currently have. I'm waiting to put it in until after I get the game out of the garage.

I also cleaned off the old broken plexi on the CP, removed the generic graphics the last owner had and got the glue off with some goo gone. I'm now debating what direction to go for a new CPO. I don't really want to go the TwoBit route if I can get something more authentic but I suppose it will work if need be. If anyone can help out on that, I'd appreciate it.

Unless your pockets are deep and you are a good painter here is what I would do and have done for these in the past.

Decals for front and sides
Yellow T-Moulding for front
New marquee CPO from Pheonix Arcade (don't go two bit) as they are dramatically different.
New bezel from Arcadeshop (plexi) or Pheonix (glass).

You will have to call Arcadeshop to see if they have stock as they were hassled by Namco and Twobits from what I recall and pulled all Pac stuff from their site.

Here is a decal version we did several years ago.

I have done a few this way but I have since bought a fully restored Ms. Pac in a new painted cab, added a 8 in 1 kit. The paint is always nicer but decals look amazing also.

It is a rewarding restore as you will enjoy the game when done and it is always a focal point in any collection for non collectors who will gravitate to it due to familiarity.
