This is my 4th and probably the last Dragon's lair I'm going to bring back. The cost alone is ridiculous to restore one of these and the cheap way out is rasberry pi or a pc. This will be the first one that I'll use a tv for. As NTSC boards are Hard to find. Plus I'd have for tube swap a G07 and no longer have any good cores to start from. Here is what I'm starting with. A typical marquee cut hacked dragon's lair cab. But it did have a space Ace control panel

Ordered a massive amount of part and art. The price has tripled since my last one 2 years ago.
Stripped the cab and filled a few odd holes and replaced the lower 3" on the sides.

Back inside with the AC. Control panel is new. Fits tight on the sides. Need to figure that out before putting the vinyl on. New Wico stick and new buttons. I refurbished the coin door. I'm waiting on the last parts the dexter and the harness. But not bad for one days work.

Thanks. More progress. Finished the vinyl. Monitor is about ready. Have to mount the chassis completely. Ill have to figure out if the tv will turn on with power and also display correctly when the cab it powered on.

Just an update the Dragons lair will be finished this weekend. I am just waiting on the laser disc control cable. I picked up a trashed laser disc player. Tried to fix it first but someone already hacked it up. The transformer had melted down. So I gutted it and mounted a Dexter inside. Just a few pics of that. I have the harness and the drawer slides I was missing. So tomorrow I'll finish wiring it up.

wonder where you got that idea??

Nice restoration.

Does the RPi support the original DL scoreboard? If so, details please.

Scott C.

The RPi is part of Dexter. It looks like the two boards had to be separated to fit inside the LD-V1000 shell.
The scoreboard is still controlled by the Dragon's Lair main board.

But yeah... That is way cool!
Somebody should 3D print and sell mini LD-V1000 Dexter cases.

Yes a case would be cool. Trying to make the DL look close to original so didn't want the dexter mounted inside. Bad enough I'm using a tv. Yes has the separate the Pi off the dexter for better fitment.

Well it's finally wrapped up. All working and the player is in the drawer. I still suck at the game. It needs a new tinted bezel as this on is fogged and faded a bit. Also the marquee transformer is noisey so that's getting replaced.

Beautiful machine! This is one of only a couple more machines that I want for my arcade room. I love restoring arcade machines, but not good with the technical parts of them. I am better with the wood, control panel, coin door, etc. Electronics I always have to send to a better person than me. With this, I would have to get one that's either already been fixed up, or the newer components installed in it. I heard you can build a full DL cab without using any original parts now? Still would prefer original! But again, Beautiful game, and hope to have one like this someday!

what part of the player was melted? i can repair most of the ldv1k's have saved a few so far. got any pics?
