hey, ive been reading all the threads on this particular pin. anyways my question is this

i have found a demolition man pin for sale, its 3 1/2 hours away from me, the seller says the playfield is really nice, the cabinet is decent, the MPU boots and the game goes into attract mode but no display or sound, its missing a flipper solenoid coil, and the lock down bar is missing, asking 750, said he would take 700. is that really worth it? i know this machine complete and in good shape is about 1k right? i think that price is a bit high but not really sure. i have seen alot of pictures of the machine, it does look to be in decent shape, would be the nicest in my collection if i got it, but the unknowns for the not working and the missing parts scares me as far as cost to fix, i am capable of doing the work with some reading. let me know what you think

Like all machines, it's hard to say until you see the actual condition of it. One man's nice is another man's crap. I'd go into it knowing (not thinking) that the handles are tarnished to holy hell and that the claw doesn't work. You're also to be sure that there are at least a few broken plastics that are going to be pure hell trying to find (the long left side plastic is always destroyed because of how thin it is, and equally impossible to find a replacement for). That far away, I'd say keep looking. It's a good game, but knowing the for sure problem, with the more than likely problems, and combine those with other issues you just know are going to come up... not worth it, I'd say.

EDIT: I see it's missing a lock down bar, too. There goes about 70 bucks to get a new wide body bar. You're looking at putting into it a minimum of 200 to fix what will be wrong at the VERY least. Also, not to scare you (or maybe I am trying to) the claw is a bitch to work on, and always broken in scenarios like this. If you are VERY comfortable with pins, it's not that big of a deal, but you are going to take out a lot of ramps to fix it. If the elevator ramp opto is out, you're going to have to take apart even more. Arguably, one of the hardest pins to shop (I've owned two demo mans).

i appreciate the advise, i can tell you really dont like to work on this machine as it follows your other posts :) but for sure knowledge and eye opener, the problem for me is locally i cant find pins, and when you do for this same exact machine in the exact same condition they want 3K which is just crazy ill talk to the man and see what bottom dollar is maybe it would be worth while, im an auto mechanic so the mechanical tear down and put together isnt really a big deal for me, but work none the less

I had two. A flaming turd and a SUPER NICE one. I wish to god I never sold the nice one, but had to make room at the time. I think the pin is very fun. Not super deep, but I like the movie, and loved the flow of the ramps. Also, the light show was very cool. If you can find it for the right price, it's a good game to have in a collection of a few or more.

When you find one, word of warning. The extra ball shot WILL piss you off. It's one of the harder shots in pinball to hit, and then the little bastard will jump out of the scoop half the time. ARGH! Even with drop dead foam, it will hop outta there from time to time.

You are right, we have 3 listed here, but they are all priced $1500-$1900.....and........they are all still for sale too.

wasnt meant to be anywho guy e-mailed me today and said it sold
