This is a followup to the following two threads:
- Have you ever pulled a bonehead stunt? (link)
- Will a Joust fit in a TrailBlazer? (link)
I didn't get a chance to answer the second question, but the answer to a similar question "Will a Joust fit in a Ford Edge?", is yes, just barely (see Hauling Tip at the end of this post).
The easiest way to tell this tale is probably as a timeline:
5:00am - `!#$%#$^' alarm goes off
5:45am - out the door to the airport
6:30am - car parked, shuttle to the terminal, going through security
7:25am - plane pushes back from the gate (5 minutes early ?!?)
8:45am - plane touches down in Tulsa (30 minutes early ??!??)
9:30am - picked up the Chevy TrailBlazer, I mean, Ford Edge and hit the road
10:30am - arrived at the front gate of Dry Gulch U.S.A.
10:45am - got my first look at the Joust. It is in amazingly good condition. Spent a few minutes talking with Stephen (the guy running the Ebay auctions, very cool guy) and got a quick tour, including a couple of their arcades. Very nice. No redemption machines. Lots of classics.
11:20am - hit the road for Houston.

2:30pm - hit the Texas border, stop for gas and stretch legs.

7:30pm - arrive home. Unload. Feed dogs. Stretch.
8:30pm - Return Edge to rental at IAH. Shuttle back to airport. Shuttle back to parking lot. Get in car and drive home.
9:30pm - grab a bite to eat. Watch the news and go to bed.
A very long day. But the results will be worth it. Somebody put a switcher into it. The CPU appears to be dead (bars on screen), so it is time to get out the meter and start to debug.
Oh yes, pictures or it didn't happen. I don't have any of the trip, I forgot my camera and I never remember the camera on my phone, Doh! But here it is sitting in my air conditioned auxilliary video game repair facility (known by my wife as the dining room (what a stupid name we never dine there
).
Hauling Tip:
The way to fit a fullsized video game into an Edge is to:
(1) Move the passenger seat allllllllll the way forward.
(2) lay the game on its side with the tall part towards the passenger seat.
(3) PUSH. HARD. Then push some more. It will fit. But not by much.
