Mod, Hyde and anybody else in the Austin to San Antonio corridor can stop calling on the Centpede and Stargate ad in CL. They are in their new home & resting comfortably :)

They are going to need some consmetic work and probably some wiring and board work. According to the previous owner, he had them in his bar until a few years ago when the monitors went out. Then they went into storage. The monitor is still in the pede, but it looks like a G07 and the flyback is cracked (sound familiar). So there is probably a bit of work to get it running.

The Stargate is missing the monitor and the board the monitor bolts to. It also has a switcher hacked in (and hacked is the appropriate term). So it is going to need the power supply rebuilt and part of the harness rebuilt.

But on the positive side, they were cheap and it was a great day for a 3.5 hour each way drive. The wildflowers are blooming and it was a beautiful sunny day. :D

Strange there is no 2nd player button on the Pede.... apparently a repro CPO as well I am guessing?

not bad. for 7 hours of driving that must've been a good score. you might want to check around for a dead pole position to grab a monitor out of. i've seen one with a wooden shelf mount type monitor, so it might have the same monitor you need.

The 2nd button is inside. Somebody unscrewed "volcano" cone and it fell in. I think it is an original CPO as the previous owner didn't do anything for maintenance. He just bought them from a friend that ran an arcade and ran them until they broke and then put them in storage.

The monitor is a regular horizontal G07 monitor, 'Pedes just have the plywood mounting under the bezel cut to turn them vertical without changing the normal horizontal monitor frame. Freaked me out the first time I saw it. I was looking for a vertical monitor, so I went to pull one out of a previous 'pede cabinet and found a horizontal monitor mounted vertically.

The drive was great. I got to spend time with my wife and the wildflowers are just about at the peak here and it was beautiful day. Getting two decent project boxes was a bonus.

Nice Stargate. I miss mine alot!!!

Thanks. It's pretty scratched up, but the control panel is in good shape and it is the first one I have ever seen that doesn't have the security bar across it. So for once, I don't have to spend 40 hours on bondo and wood rehabbing. It is delaminating along the bottom pretty bad, but I slapped some glue to hold the side panels together and I will be mounting aluminum L bracket along the sides to help protect the side panels. That and a new top back door and a monitor plate are all the woodworking it needs. The hard part will be the unhacking of the power. But I think it will be worth the effort.

Ha, your Centipede's missing the same side as I am, how ironic. If only it were the other side, we could have split up a complete set.

Very nice; I'm jealous! That Centipede control panel is in great shape. Most have the artwork worn off around the trackball.

Actually both sides look like that. I couldn't tell if the artwork is under that really ugly paint or the paint is really ugly because somebody peeled the art off and they painted right over the bare MDF

Wow Ken, so what's the plan, buy 2 cabs for every one you sell? lol :p

If I can sell for $500 and buy two for $50 each ....

THanks. The control panel looks pretty good. Unfortunately, the trackball rolls like a box instead of a ball :001_ssad:. So it will need to be replaced or rebuilt at a minimum. The monitor is dead according to the previous owner and it has some pretty bad 'pede burn on it. But if the tube works it might not take too much to get it running. Then it will be waiting for a cheap set of side art to show on Ebay. And any other non-visible issues (power supply, board, marquee light, wiring, fuses, etc, etc, etc....).
