Man - my Gravitar decided to go down about a month ago ... I used to HATE this game in the arcades, but it is very addicting! Well, today I finally got it back up and running - My high score is 168K... not bad for someone that couldn't even get 10K at first! Love this hobby :)

Congrats!! I too have become addicted to Gravitar, I originally started playing it on my Arcade legends machine and immediately fell in love with the game... I found the game very challenging, but rewarding once you had the patience to learn how to control the ship and know how to play the boards.

Once I played it at Todd31's house on a dedicated cab and experienced gameplay on a vector monitor, I knew I had to have one! I bought mine from DJDNS and it should be here in a week or two! :)

Most people don't have the patience to master this game, I have showed it to a lot of my friends and they get turned off by how much patience it takes to maneuver the ship with such fine control.. probably the reason it didn't do well in the arcade. But to me, this game kicks ass!!

168K is a great score also, mine is in the 60K range but that's on my Arcade legends 2 machine, I found the gameplay and controls to be better on the dedicated machine and anticipate my scores going up once I get it :)

I agree. My friends prefer more "shoot em up" type games. I got the game in a package deal with space duel... I would have never played it but it was just sitting in my garage and sucked me in. I have made it to the reverse gravity - can't imagine the invisible landscapes with reverse gravity! Good luck when you get it! Send me pics!

Congrats! My approach to Gravitar is very cerebral compared to my other arcade games. A "shoot em up, blow em up" philosophy playing Gravitar will not get you very far. I think very carefully about the order of planets and turrets to kill, the order is very important.
I've only seen the 3rd Solar Sytem twice, I visited all the planets just to take a look before I died.
168K is a GREAT score on Gravitar. I have only made it to 77K myself but I just can't play more than 1-2 games of Gravitar a night.
Now a game like Stargate... I could play Stargate over and over until my fingers bleed or I ran outta money!
Gravitar is a great collectors game but it's easy to see why it was a complete dog BITD.

Agreed- 168K is GREAT!

My high is ~140K right now. I ALMOST made it through the last reverse gravity system.

Still having a hard time imagining how to handle the invisible worlds.

I routinely warp to the 3rd system to start. You know what I find hard? Slipping back to play a 'regular' gravity game after going through a few planets with 'reverse' gravity. :)

How exactly do you "warp" to the 3rd solar system from the start of the game?

Congrats, man! Gravitar is such a badass game. It's the game the got the most of my attention at CAX last year. I suck at it, but I hope to own one someday.

Well, not directly from the start..

Destroy the reactor and activate the 'link' to the next solar system.
Repeat on the 2nd solar system.

The third link is pretty hard. Turrets line the pathway from the start of the level. I've only completed that link once or twice.

Wow--that high score is insane! I finally broke 60k last night by completing all the third solar system (I had done each planet but never all of them at that level). I finally figured out last night to stop trying to warp past the third SS and just complete all of the planets to get to the next. I hate to say it, but I may love it more than Robotron at this point--definitely a keeper.
