Back when I was a kid (1970's) my Grandfather had a tv that when shut off, still showed a wierd fading blob of colors in the center of the screen for a few seconds. I now have an arcade that does the same. It works and plays well. What does the fading color thing mean once it is switched off?

should be residual current firing the electron gun.. it's just hitting the center area of the tube since deflection has been ceased.. must have to do with the HV capacitance of the crt tied to the electron gun assembly. kind of neat hey?.. unless if it's some other phenomenon and I am completely wrong. first thing I can think of though.

I don't believe there had been a magnet involved. I agree that current may be bleeding out of an electron gun causing the colors. Do you think this may be due to a bad cap?

^ This is the most likely reason, why.

Is it a G07 by chance? If so, check the wiring on the back of the focus/brightness knobs.

Oh, and recap it...

Not a G07. I've never really looked at it. Maybe matsushita or nanao or ?? Not a wg or electrohome I don't believe. Honestly, I bought the game for parts and havn't even considered fixing it. Just wondering what causes it.
