Just picked up my first pinball (Comet) a few weeks ago and Novus'd/waxed the playfield, put a new shooter spring in and ordered a ton more crap for it.

Anyway, I read on IPDB before I bought it and there's a post from some guy crabbing about how the "million point shot hasn't worn well over the years". No idea why his comment stuck in my head.

Well, I just hit the million point shot tonight after about 15 hrs of playing since getting it and started yelling like a moron. The machine freaked out, the kids ran over and jumped around screaming and high fived me. It was total awesomeness.

That doof who complained about that shot has lost the magic. Dammit, I think I might be in the "used to buy arcades now I'm into pinball" club.

It's called growing up :D
I've learned to stop throwing comments like the "million dollar shot" buzz kill dude. Just because I think a game sucks doesn't make me the almighty authoritarian on that particular game. I think it's cool as hell you and your kids got excited. That kind of excitement never seems to happen on vids does it?

Yeah i used too be quite good at that pin allso. You can hit that shot like 10 times in a row and then just miss it and your doomed!

I miraculously hit the million point shot on a Comet in an arcade once, and yes, it gives a great show. Comet is a such a nice title that got caught in between the old and new 80's games.

Happens all the time. Sheesh. Don't know what games you are playing.

I played pinball league tonight and since we were waiting for a game to free up for out next round, another player and I got in a few rounds of Street Fighter Champion Edition. We had a blast trading wins. It was like 1992 all over again.

Yeah, I love machines of the late 80s/1990. Many are totally underrated simply because they lack a DMD. Fun House, Bride of Pinbot, Earthshaker, Elvira Party Monsters.

It's a great feeling!!! I have done it twice on the same game once awhile back. Love the fireworks show and the rollercoaster sound when you get and as a nice touch the machine lets you know you got it with the first seven digit on your score flashes....

Did you ever solve your flasher problem?

Not yet, but by wiggling bulbs I was able to get 2 of the 4 working. I'm not sure if it's still bulb sockets or another problem at the moment. I'm putting a set of Pinscore displays in front of fixing the fireworks. I can't stand not being able to see my score anymore.

Once those are in, I'll dig into the fireworks.

That's a good point. We win video games at our house all the time, but it doesn't feel the same. There's definitely something jackpot-like about pinball machines.

I shoulda owned one (or ten) sooner!
