Have you ever put something away for safe keeping...

I was working on finishing up the major items on the BUbbles today, now that it is cool enough to work in the garage again. I finished wiring the control panel and went to put the hinge back on it, but it was nowhere to be found. I remember putting it away for safe keeping because it's the only one that width that I have. Two hours of looking came up with nothing.

So I pulled a Joust one out and chopped it off, drilled a new end hole, painted it and attached it to the Bubbles control panel. I took the completed piece over to install it and there was the hinge I was looking for laying across the bezel right where I left it. Doh!

I hate when that happens.

So now I have to wait for the paint to dry on the original hinge and then I can finally assemble everything and make sure I got the wiring right.

Then to get the fluorescent to light up and the basics are done!

ken.

I needed an STR381 VR for a K5501 rebuild a while back, but Bob was out. Now he has some, and a buddy asked if I needed him to add anything to his order. I had him add an STR381, which came in and he gave me. I brought it home, and put it somewhere so I would know where it is when I had time to get back to that monitor. I have no idea where it is.....

I hate it when that happens! Almost had one of those today.

Usually it happens to me with tools. I'm sitting at my desk, use my screwdriver to take off something, make a repair, go to put it back on and I can't find my screwdriver. AND I HAVEN"T LEFT MY DESK! I just had it 5 minutes ago!

What's even worse is when I lose something BIG, and I know it's got to be somewhere. I spent a good hour the other day trying to figure out what happened to the Ms. Pac control panel I took off a cab at work just 30 minutes before the phone rang and distracted me...

I bought a bunch of components to fix my Stern Magic and set them down somewhere so the kid couldn't find them.

I looked for 3 hours for the damn things yesterday and the whole time they were sitting on top of the headbox mocking me

I found a set of leg levelers I thought I threw away by mistake six months ago - turns out they were in the bottom of the tool box. D'OH!

I do this all the time.... For me, putting something in a specific place so I don't lose it, is roughly translated to "losing something intentionally ahead of time"
