So, guy calls and wants to look at the Asteroids. He thinks $250 is a great deal and wants to come take a look.

I take off work to meet him here during the day.

Shows up on time (thank you) and looks at it. And looks at it. And looks at it. Kicks the tires. Asks if I will take less and I say no, that's my minimum amount thank you very much.

He calls his brother to talk about it. And they talk. And talk. And talk.

He gets off the phone and says his brother will need to look at it first and they will drive back over from Sacramento (about an hour) this weekend to have another look.

E-mails tonight and says he wants it but only for $200 but since he has to make the drive again he would like a gas allowance on top of that.

A gas allowance? Really?

Just a time waster. Cut your losses.
You're actually a better person than me. There is no way I'd waste a day off on that.

Send him an email agree on the price and don't be home or don't answer the door. Even better get his number call at the last minute before he gets to your house telling him someone else come over and paid you more. That will be a kick in the nutts

You left work to meet him, if he doesn't want to buy it for your original price, when clearly you went out of your way to help him, I wouldn't sell it to him. Not worth the time or headache.

i'd call him back and ask him if he wants to have dinner with you when he comes, and if it's cool to throw him a few bucks for having his wife watch the kids while he's out of the house as well.

I don't work far from home and it's not like I took the whole day off. But he kept me here much longer than necessary considering I could tell within 1 minute that he wasn't serious about it. Here's the exact quote from his e-mail:

"I would like to buy it for $180 or I can pay $200 if you include a $20 cash rebate for gas."

Douchebag. It's your game, so HE needs to stop acting like a used car salesman. Ignore the moron.

so jehuie is getting jehuie'd

I would pay $250 no sweat for that asteroids.

Do you have the guys name and/or email address? I'd put a warning post on CL, call him out...

Nah, it wasn't that big of a deal. It's mostly just funny. He drove an hour each way to get here the first time and didn't take it with him. Now he wants to do it again and have me help pay for the second trip. Just strange is all.

I'm sure he's a nice guy.

At the very least I would stick to your guns and tell him $250 is the price. That's awful ballsy for him to ask for gas money when it's his fault he didn't get it the first trip out.

Well, I had sent the guy an e-mail earlier gently chastising him. He responded with a nice note of apology. He's not going to buy it though, I can tell. :) But there are several other folks expressing serious interest so it shouldn't be long. I'm surprised nobody has wanted that Gaplus game though. It's way more fun in my opinion.

250 is way less than the money on a decent working asteroids. Don't sell it for a penny less and only take CASH. He's going to show up with a check that bounces, and a brother who will likely come back to rob your home after he figures out your schedule.

Stay away from this dude. Its a classic, its money in the bank. Just sit on it until the economy gets a little better. Rest assured it will appreciate more than my 401K..

Don't be in a hurry. I would consider selling a working asteroids for less than 350, and mine looks like a racoon lived in it. oh yeah... a racoon did live in it. Make no mistake your time is valuable and he is wasting it.
