Hi. I came across an interesting panel years ago (which I had in storage for a while). Attached is a picture that shows a panel that seems to have a Gold border around the graphics rather than the usual Silver one that I had always seen prior (I even own a NOS CPO for Xybots).

Has anyone ever seen one in Gold? I know that the blue on one side of the panel has changed color (as can be seen around the button where the original blue is more like the bottom panel). But it cannot be that the Silver faded to Gold....

What do you think, prototype? PS, I had obtained this years before any repros started appearing.

Thanks.

Silver Atari overlays do just turn gold over time. Sun, smoke etc.

720s turn very gold just like that.

I missed one of those panels on eBay a couple of months ago. And I think I remember the edges being gold also.

Going by those pics the other colors are also kind of dingy on the cp where the silver turned to "Gold".

Mine's gold, and there is zero fading on that panel.

Great, thanks. I want to see how many more see this. I have seen my share of fading in not only arcade art but other art and I just thought it was too much for that Silver to have turned into Gold.

Yeah, if mine wasn't HUO, it was extremely well taken care of (I picked it up at a mini storage auction, so I have no clue of its history). So it looks like there actually might be two variations of the panel. Don't know why, because I think the silver actually looks better with the gray cabinet than the gold.

Almost all the machines I have seen (I actually owned 3 at one point and one NOS Overlay), are indeed Silver. I guess Gold was some early variation. That is why we post these kind of threads to see if these knowledgeable arcade freaks here have some info on this one.

Alas, too bad a lot of older collectors have moved on to other hobbies, satisfied with their basement collection (good for life) and barely posting anything anymore.
