This has been the most annoying never ending battle with these boards. Or should I say monitors!?

Today I hooked up my xxxx-in-1 board to a Dynamo cab that has a Wells Gardner K7000 monitor. My bother has the same exact one in his, and also has the same issue.

On first boot up it worked fine on PAL settings. Loaded up a game (SFII) and got the screen picture perfect almost. It was a bit off but not really too noticeable and I was fine with it. I sat an wired up my whole control panel and get everything working except the5th & 6th buttons. So I properly shut down everything and tried to wire up the extra wires and fired it up once more.

The thing looked like this.......

Blurry as can be and nothing fixed the problem. I tried resetting it a few times with no success.

I had started to think that maybe I accidentally jostled something while getting it all hooked up and such. So I re-checked everything to see what may have come loose, and didn't notice anything out of place. Still upon another try out, the thing refused to display properly and I installed the board into my candy cab. Not only did the thing fire up properly on the first try, but it just looks so beautiful on my Sega Blast monitor. Crisp and clear as can be!

Has anyone figured out a way around this? A fix method for the monitor to take this board with no problems? Or is it better to just mame my dynamo cab with a jpac and computer and forget the board all together?

I've adjusted the 50.60 pot and it does nothing. I just threw a regular game in there and it worked fine. Then I tossed the multi board back in there and it now it flutters. Before it was just distorted, but the picture didn't move.

It's like shaking the dice with this board. You never know how it's going to show on the screen.

It worked earlier and now the thing just wants to give me problems. This also does the same thing on my brother's dynamo cab.

could be the sync needs to be hooked up differently at the monitors connector, do you have any idea if this board outputs negatve or positive sync?
take a pic of the video input wires at the monitor plz...

Thanks for the input guys. I tried to get a snap of the sync on my monitor but my battery just died on my camera. So this is a temp pic until I can post one tomorrow.

I did something and I'm not quite 100% sure if this made a difference. But I think it might have...... I can only hope.

Ok.... On this multi board. It has different video mode settings that you can click to with a button. From the speaker it will yell out the video settings it is currently on when you press the button. VGA, NTSC, PAL etc.
Earlier I had it set to "PAL" and and it worked, then I had ran into the problem I mentioned above.

So I started trying to do my own research and ran across a Rob Roberts article about syncs and and stuff.

All of a sudden a light bulb went off in my head when I read "ground wire"

I thought back to the time where I was having video problems with my muti jamma switcher that needed a ground wire bridged from pin 1-14. Without it it had video problems similar to what I was seeing. So I bridged a wire from 1-14 on my multi board for shits and giggles to see if it would work.

I fire it up and when I crossed PAL it was still giving me problems, but when I clicked on NTSC, this time it had an almost regular screen, just with a out of focus/double picture. I messed with the vert/hold dial next with the 50/60 pot and the picture came on clear. Still needed a few tweaks, but I managed. I played for a while to see how well it would hold and so far no problems.

I will find out when I go to try it out tomorrow. That wire bridge form 1-14 could have been my answer, or my monitor is being an asshole and playing games with me.

I have no idea about the monitor board, since I'm starting to learn about these monitors.
Playing with the 50/60 pot. I thought it would be like an on/off dial. (either it's on 50 or on 60) It seems to turn like regular pots that had gotten rid of my top screen curl problem I had with my CPS-1 board. Slowly with a bit of a turn fixing the problem.

looks like you have positive sync on the end pin only there( pin 10, closest tot he front of the game) if it starts giving you fits agan for giggles, try jumpering a wire to the empty cavity there so youd then have sync on both pins 9 and 10.

First of all, you mean negative horizontal - not "positive". 2nd - the wiring is fine.

the problem is that the K7000 monitor is NOT VGA, NTSC, or PAL. It is standard-res 15kHz. Set your video output accordingly and it will probably work just fine....

dammit mod youre right... yeah what mod said lol..

ive heard storeis too of those xxxx in ones "saying" a resolution but it was what was previously bieng outputted aka the voice was one off from what was really bieng outputted.

So far when I fired it up today everything seemed to be working fine. I ran a few games and noticed no problems for the 2 hours I had it running. Even played KI that some folks I've seen on other threads were having problems with. No issues there. However I've noticed that the sounds on some games are wayyy louder than others. Never had that issue before.

Anyhow, I'm going to try this quick trick at my brother's house during the game to see if it may be a hidden fix or whatnot. Hope it works.

@caddilacman Never heard of that 1 off issue, but I wouldn't be surprised. I got these things when they first came out, and realized that the price wasn't the only issue keeping some people away. I've done just about all the upgrades and there is always an issue. Plus these things are a pain to program.

Again, thanks for the inputs guys. I will post updates.
